DIY car tire swan

Various fancy figures of swans can be considered classics of the genre. The most difficult thing when making a swan figure is to correctly cut, cut and turn it inside out.

The first thing you need to do is apply markings.

Procedure: Draw out the head, neck, beak, and body with chalk, observing the proportions. The length of the top should be slightly more than half the circumference. Then you can start cutting. For this purpose, it is better to use a jigsaw or a metal file, since it is quite difficult to cut thick rubber with a knife, and when working with a grinder, rubber emits an unpleasant aroma. Incisions are made alternately on both sides. If you cut on one side, then when working on the other side there will be problems.

The neck is secured with wire. Metal staples are made from it and inserted into paired holes made 10-15 cm apart along the center line, then a metal rod is inserted and secured. Finally, decoration is carried out: painting, designing the eyes, cutting out swan wings with imitation plumage.

Some craftsmen carve delicate swans by covering black rubber with white paint. Detailed instructions for making swans from car tires are given in the video:

Handmade crafts will bring a lot of joy to the people around you. And the kids will simply be delighted with funny animals or cartoon characters.

What you need for creativity

You may need tools, paints, brushes, twine, and a shovel.

Important! Keep in mind that tires from domestic manufacturers are usually stiffer - they are not as easy to work with. And one more thing: summer tires turn out much more difficult than winter tires.

You may need paint in cans or regular oil paint in cans. Do not use water-based compositions - products painted with such paint will quickly lose their original appearance outdoors.

Beasts from tires

A bright tiger with black stripes on an orange background is an excellent craft for a children's garden. It is not difficult to install the tires in such a way that a strange beast appears.

You will need desire, free time and a small amount of spray paint. The first tire is installed horizontally. This is the installation location for the remaining parts of the sculptural improvisation. The second tire is cut in half. Using a knife, the cut points are processed. You get two paws. The third tire is turned out and the torso is threaded through.

The structure is screwed on with self-tapping screws. A relief muzzle is cut out of the remaining rubber. The eyes are replaced with bolts or glass. The entire structure is painted. The ears are inserted into the slots on the top of the head after dyeing.

Oh, these flower beds...

Making a flower garden using old tires is probably the simplest thing you can make from tires with your own hands. For example, you can simply take tires and paint them bright colors.

Place the tires in random order on the site, fill them with soil and plant flowers in them. But such crafts are also suitable for the garden. Regular parsley and dill in tire beds are even tastier.

How to make crafts from tires and where to get tires

In addition to free time, imagination and old car tires, in the process of making such crafts you will need multi-colored paints, brushes, knives, ropes, chains, and a shovel. You need to prepare all this in advance, and also decide what exactly you want to do. It should be taken into account that in this case it is better to use tires from foreign manufacturers, since domestic ones are harder and more difficult to turn out, and also that summer tires are more difficult to turn out than winter ones. In general, fake tires are easy to make with your own hands; you just need to be patient and imaginative. You can look for the tires themselves near any large tire shop in your city - they are often simply thrown away there.

Tulips in a tulip

Now let's move on to more complex crafts from old tires. Let's make several flowerpots. Let's take the wheel. If you don’t rely on the eye, then it’s better to first apply a design to the top part with a marker - petals, waves, teeth - whatever you like best.

Using a sharp knife, be sure to use it on your own - so as not to cut yourself, cut along the lines. For such crafts, it is better to take a wheel from a car - they do not have a metal cord.

Such tires are much easier to cut. Having cut out our “sun”, we turn the tire over and cut off the rubber in a circle almost at the tread itself.

From the same edge we cut our wheel a few centimeters deep, so that later it will be more convenient to turn it out.

The inverted flower beds can be painted, filled with soil and planted with flowers - tulips, lilies, daffodils or any others.

Flowerpot from a wheel: turning the tires out

If you have a tire with an old rim, you can use it to make a flowerpot with a leg.

Flowerpot from an old car wheel

To do this, cut one sidewall along the tread. And they turn it inside out. This is not an easy task: considerable physical strength and perseverance are required. The rubber is elastic and it is impossible to turn it out the first time. If absolutely not possible, notches are made on the outside side across the tread. They should be quite deep, but not through. It will also help if you make cuts along the edge with a depth of at least 5-7 centimeters. They will look like fringe on an inverted tire.

Why do they turn it inside out? The inner surface is smoother, and the shape can be more interesting, especially if the edge is made not linear, but jagged. The result will be a gracefully bent decoration.

Another option for a flowerpot made of tires

For details on how to turn out a tire, watch the video.

In a similar way, you can turn out a tire without a rim. The sequence of actions is the same. First, cut off one of the sidewalls - straight or zigzag. To ensure that the “petals” are even, it is advisable to mark them. It is convenient to do this with chalk. The mark is then cut with a jigsaw or knife (if the cord is synthetic).

The process of turning an old tire into a flower garden

They turn it out like this: they step on the inside of the tire, grab the edge with their hands and pull it up and towards themselves. It is important to achieve the first result: when at least some part is bent. If the tire looks like the photo below, it's already a success. It is developed by successively turning the edge inside out and standing on the already turned part so that it does not turn back.

Removing the tire without the rim

Watch the process again in the video. This time they turn out the tire without the wheel (they cut it, by the way, with a knife).

Even by itself, such a tire turned inside out looks good. If you paint it, it becomes even better. If desired, they can be combined - different colors, sizes, installed differently: on a tire or on legs.

Installation options

A tall flower bed always looks beautiful. Especially with hanging plants. It can also be made from tires, and there are several possibilities. The photo below shows two ways to secure cut tires at different levels. The first is to use stumps for this, to which flowerpots are attached with nails or screws. The second is to use reinforcement - three or four rods on which to put rubber. Having set the tier at the desired level, it needs to be secured; on metal this can only be done with the help of clamps.

Multi-tiered raised flower beds made from tires

It is not always possible to place a flowerpot on the ground: some areas are so developed that it is problematic to allocate even one square meter. For this occasion, people came up with various hanging flowerpots, also made from old tires. Only a small part of the whole tire remains, so you have to cut a lot... be patient. For example, you can make hanging flowerpots in the shape of a dolphin, parrot, rooster and other strange birds. For some ideas, see the photos.

Tire planter - parrot, rooster and dolphin

All these crafts made from tires. Only a small part of them - the heads - are often made of dense foam. Having cut and sanded the part of the desired shape, it is attached using self-tapping screws coated with glue (this is a secret, remember), and then painted. Watch the video to see how to make a parrot from a tire.

From a cut tire you can make a garden path that will last for many years.

Cute snails

From soft tires we cut off unnecessary dense rubber parts, leaving only the tread. We cut it and we get a long rubber strip.

At one end we cut out the snail's muzzle, not forgetting about the horns. We paint it in bright colors - usually it is better to make the shell brown or reddish, and the face and horns - lighter - yellow or beige.

Don't forget about the eyes and smiling mouth. Even with little drawing skills, you can easily end up with a very cute, cartoonish animal.

We twist the snail into a small spring and secure it. The craft for the garden or vegetable garden is ready!

Furniture made from tires

It is useful, not bad and financially profitable to “create” furniture with your own labor. Instead of searching and buying, making to order, or bringing in a set, you can use a sufficient number of worn-out tires and get furniture that looks great in the garden.

The most affordable option is offered. Each tire must first be thoroughly washed and dried. There are special products for washing tires. Then they are painted in the bright color that the owners of the dacha like.

Acrylic paints are ideal for the side parts. To complete the feeling, tires can be covered with covers, the fabric of which is dense and has waterproof properties.

Bright birds

From small wheels you can easily build different birds. We cut the wheel with a sharp knife along the tight edge. We bend the cut rubber edges.

We cut one end into several flats - this is our tail, the second is slightly rounded - this will make the head and beak.

We paint it and hang it on a thick cord from a tree. Such a bird can be filled with soil and something exotic can be planted. There will be a flying flowerbed.

Kach-kach

Tire swings can be made in many different ways. First of all, it depends on the diameter of our workpiece. If the wheel is standard, then we will try to build a swing with chains attached.

We punch holes in the tire and treat them so that they do not tear. Then we fix the chain at four points and hang the structure from a tree or a special bracket.

From half a large wheel you can make a swing for the little ones. We take a wooden beam the size of the wheel diameter. We strengthen it inside.

We nail a board on top three to four times longer than the diameter of our wheel.

With the help of large door handles we fasten the parts even more firmly. These handles will help your baby stay on the swing. Paint the craft and let it dry.

The simplest option is to tie the tire with a strong rope and hang it on a tree branch. It will look very romantic!

Tire tea party

You can make wonderful garden furniture from old wheels. In addition to tires, you will need plywood, self-tapping screws, rope, and a heat gun.

From plywood we cut out two circles with a diameter slightly larger than a tire. Using self-tapping screws we attach them to the wheel.

We wrap the resulting workpiece with our rope, periodically coating it with a glue gun - this way the layers adhere better.

Now we also cover the top plywood cover with rope, twisting it in a spiral. If you do it carefully, the product will turn out very impressive!

Tires can also be used to make other furniture. To get acquainted with the technology, you can watch any master class. There are a great many of them on the Internet.

And a little more about tires

Wicker boxes or other similar crafts can also be made from tires. First you need to cut strips from tires from 3 to 6 cm wide and weave them, for example, into bodies. The bottom can also be rubber, but it’s easier to cut it out of plywood.

If you suddenly find several old tires in the garage for the New Year, then take white paint and “sculpt” a snowman out of them. It will not melt yet... ever.

Tires of different diameters can be used to make a beautiful cup. And not just one! Paint them bright colors and plant beautiful flowers inside.

A large tractor wheel will not only make a wonderful boat - we have known this since childhood, but also a sandbox.

Place the wheel in a convenient place, place polyethylene inside, paint the rubber in a bright color and pour sand inside. Your baby will be very happy with such a gift. Don't forget your sun umbrella!

So, you already understand that to the question of what can be made from tires, there can only be one answer - everything!

Unusual waste bin

In any area of the site around the dacha, you can place a trash can made of tires. It looks good as a craft for the garden, not to mention its benefits for summer residents. It’s not difficult to do it in your free time.

Three worn tires are stacked on top of each other. As easy as pie. You can freshen them up with paint and even draw something fun. Both will look great among beds with vegetables and herbs. There must be a special bag inside the tank. Ready. You can use it.
