Irish lace

Let's look at how to sew an Irish lace collar. Perhaps the most famous openwork product in the whole world. It is distinguished by its incredible subtlety and whimsical design.

They are knitted only by hand and therefore have no analogues, which is especially valuable. A truly luxurious fabric is created using a needle and delicate yarn - muslin.

An easier way to crochet an Irish lace collar is possible using cotton or silk threads.

There are several techniques for this type of knitting. The most famous among fashionistas is lace with patterns of flowers and leaves in three-dimensional representation. It is still popular today.

Lace collar

To create a charming collar, stylists and designers use all known types of lace. In modern models of dresses, blouses, shirts and blouses, it can be sewn in or applied. The last option is incredibly convenient, because it can be used in an ensemble with different wardrobe items. In addition, removable lace collars can instantly change the entire look, making it festive and elegant.

Collars – Irish lace

Incredibly elegant collars, Irish lace, are popular all over the world due to the amazing subtlety and complexity of the original pattern. They are made exclusively by hand, so they may not be cheap at all, however, the high price of such products is fully justified - they look truly luxurious and magnificent. A beautiful lace collar, created using Irish technology, is in most cases made using a needle from the finest yarn - muslin.

Simpler and more affordable options are created by crochet from linen, cotton or silk raw materials. Irish craftswomen used different styles in their work, the most popular among which was the creation of a three-dimensional image with patterns of leaves and flowers. This type of weaving is popular and is still used more often than others when sewing collars, cuffs and other parts of women's clothing.

Collars – Bruges lace

Magnificent Bruges lace, the collar of which looks simply charming, is now at the peak of popularity. This fabric is an imitation of ribbon lace woven with bobbins. However, it is much easier to make this type of material - the band-strip in it is crocheted, and thanks to various bends and curls it creates a unique pattern. Since crochet is currently very popular, many needlewomen make such items themselves, obtaining unique and one-of-a-kind accessories.

Collars – Vologda lace

According to many girls, lace collars from Vologda look too strict and formal. They are made using flax, bleached or gray, so they have a somewhat rough and harsh texture. However, women's lace collars made from this material perfectly complement office dresses and blouses of a classic nature.

French lace collars

Exquisite French technology allows you to get the most feminine and romantic items. Among the entire range presented by the stylists, the French lace collar clearly stands out - it looks simply charming and attracts enthusiastic and interested glances to its owner. This piece of clothing exudes the spirit of vintage, which is why French lace collars on a dress or blouse fit best into the retro style.

Irish lace knitting technique

To knit Irish lace you will need:

  • Hook No. 2;
  • Cotton yarn (100%);
  • Beads (optional).

The first knitting step consists of a set of six loops, the first and last are fastened together.

The second step is knitted from the center of the ring in 21 stripes with a crochet.

Third step: a few more single crochet stripes, but from right to left.

Fourth step: 7 more loops and double crochet.

And the fifth step: into each resulting arch we insert 12 double crochet lines.

NOTE!

After completing each individual element according to the pattern of the lace collar knitting technique, you need to turn over all the finished parts of the collar with the front side facing away from you for their subsequent connection into a single puzzle.

When all the parts are assembled into one, the finished product needs to be slightly assembled so that its length does not exceed 38 centimeters.

We design a gate post. Let's put it together into a single whole. For beauty, we decorate the accessory with beads or beads, sew on a button and a loop. The collar is ready!

We knit an openwork bodice for a dress

We prepare the dress in the usual way: measuring the main dimensions, making patterns, sewing the base. As a result, we have a dress without a top, that is, the neckline ends at 5 cm below the collarbones. Now let's start working on the lace part of our wardrobe detail.

Step-by-step instructions for needlewomen:

  • We collect the required number of air loops and close them into a ring. Regardless of the size, the number of elements typed must be divided by two. Plus add 1 loop.
  • The ornament itself is formed by alternating just two rows. Now we will look at samples of these models.
  • Template No. 1: two in. p., one column with n., skipping 1 element, column with n., 1 v. p., 1 column with n. in the same loop as the previous column. Starting with skipping a loop, repeat knitting the pattern until the end of the row.
  • Template No. 2: two v. p., 1 column with n., column with n. into the opening between the previously missed elements, an air loop, another column into the indicated opening. Repeat the details of the drawing until the end of the row.
  • We knit lace to the desired size, finishing the edges of the product at the same level. We form a joint along the back surface and sew miniature buttons.
  • Carefully hem the lace bodice to the base of the dress.

As you can see, the scheme is easy to implement and accessible to any novice master.

The basis of the needlework is a crocheted strip of braid on which curls are strung. Fashion is back, and Bruges openwork is back in the top.

Vologda lace

This collar is made from linen yarn. Linen is a rigid material in its properties. Therefore, laces made on its basis look quite strict.

Collar "White Lily"

If you first look at the drawing, which a skilled needlewoman has transferred with the help of knitting needles, yarn and skill, then it will not delight you. And the finished knitting is simply a miracle. At the same time, the scheme for creating a collar is simple; Experienced craftswomen say that even a beginner can master crocheting a collar.

After all, a pattern of two loops in the rapport style is repeated under the knitting needles, creating part of some kind of pattern. Its peculiarity in this scheme is the variation in size, in this case, of the “White Lily” collar.

What does it take to create chic? A little: hook No. 1.5 or 2, white cotton thread plus polyester to give the product strength and durability of the collar. The width of the finished “White Lily” is thirteen centimeters. Knitting collars with knitting needles is suitable.

Briefly about the movement of the knitting device. The chain is crocheted with air loops around the circumference of the neck. Next, according to the established pattern, draw fourteen rows. All.

But leave the main thread, it will be useful for processing the sides using single crochets. At the end of the work, starch the collar and rejoice in its modernity.

Detachable collar

Detachable openwork collars can be combined with any outfit. Pairs perfectly with dresses, sweaters, blouses.

Now this piece of clothing is in trend, you can buy it in a boutique. And handmade will look more elegant. The advantage of the removable part is that they can be washed and starched separately.

Master class on making a removable collar using the Romanian lace technique

I continue to introduce you to an amazing technique - Romanian lace. And today I will talk about creating a small detachable collar - from sketch to finished product.

The motifs for the collar sketch that will be discussed are based on a collar made using the Vologda lace technique. As I said earlier, if you are not an artist and you don’t have a suitable pattern, but still want to create, then you can use sketches, pins or photos of products made from Vologda or Yelets lace.

Using white “Pekhorka openwork” yarn (the whole product will require 1 strand), I crocheted about 6 meters of “caterpillar” cord with hook No. 2. Since the yarn is made of 100% cotton, it is better to decate the cord (wet it in warm water, dry it on a towel and steam it with an iron).

Having secured the working pattern of the collar on a rigid base, I evenly pinned the finished cord along the contour with tailor's pins with round heads. This method speeds up the work, but requires attention so as not to skew the work when filling the gaps.

After the cord is secured, the remaining tails of thread can be used to sew the cord together and fill in the gaps when these tails are long enough, and the ends are hidden in the cord. To fill the gaps, I chose a simple Russian stitch and stitches based on it. In most literature on Romanian lace it is written that you first need to sew together all the sections of the cord where it touches and connects to each other, and then fill the gaps. But I prefer to work in parallel, since there are much fewer thread transitions along the cord and therefore unnecessary thickening.

In this particular collar, after the tails are hidden, you can continue working from any place (left, right, middle). I chose the left side and moved consistently.

After all the gaps were filled, I removed the collar, washed it, dried it on a towel on a flat surface and steamed it, pinning it to the ironing table, stretching it out on the working diagram. I left it in an extended position until the product cooled completely and dried.

Then I made a braided button from a knitted cord and sewed it in the right place, and a loop for it was formed in the process. You can also sew on a factory button at your discretion. The main thing is that it has the right diameter.

All. The collar is ready.

This wardrobe item is quite versatile. Can be attached to the neck of a dress, blouse, etc. or wear it as a necklace, especially if made strictly at the throat. In any case, such things do not lose their value over time, so just spend a few days and you will get a unique item. Try it yourself - and you will succeed.

Cuffs

In addition to the lace collar, the look can be completed with cuffs. Suitable for different length sleeves or trousers.

There is a huge variety of cuff patterns. Among them: straight and curly, stitched, turn-down and closed in a ring. In any case, the cuffs must be in harmony with the shape of the collar, if there is one in the suit.

Knitted collar

Of course, some needlewomen may consider an openwork collar to be rustic and want to make something more complex. There are, for example, quite original models knitted using knitting needles. This technique allows you to display different patterns and shapes. And if you use a crochet hook rather than knitting needles, the item will turn out more elegant and airy.

Having decided to crochet a collar, you need to immediately think through every detail (what yarn you will use, what size you will prefer, how you will decorate the finished product). Threads can be used in any color. But it is important to consider the purpose of the collar. So, for example, for a business outfit it is better to choose white and knit a collar of a classic design.

Only after thinking through everything and deciding on the appearance of the accessory, you can start knitting. It is recommended to make the first few rows longer than the planned size of the product. This is needed for the bow with which it will be attached.

Then you can knit with any pattern and create any design. Don't forget, this thing is for you, and it's already exclusive. Knit with pleasure, putting your feelings into your work.

The Internet is full of various patterns and descriptions of crocheted lace collars. When choosing materials for your product, pay attention to the labor intensity of the work. Based on which model will be easier for you to create. Don’t be afraid to experiment and don’t completely repeat someone else’s idea, but try to make something of your own. Once you gain experience, you can turn your hobby into a source of additional income.
