Lilies are wonderful noble flowers. They look gorgeous and fill the house with a captivating aroma. But not everyone likes the bright, rich smell of these flowers. Therefore, we have found an alternative to a “living” bouquet and offer to weave lilies from beads.

Varieties of colors

Florists can easily tell you several varieties of these flowers. In the same way, from the hands of a craftswoman, pink, blue, and tiger lilies are made from beads. It all depends on the correct color of the beads.

Only the technique remains unchanged. The easiest way to make any yellow or water lily from beads is by parallel weaving, although some craftsmen prefer the French technique.

Today we will take a closer look at the traditional white beaded lily and give you a master class with step-by-step photos.

Preparation of the workplace

Beginners think that they can easily string beads onto a fishing line while sitting on the sofa or sitting comfortably on the windowsill.

But experienced craftsmen know that during the work process it is very important that the beads are sorted and not scattered, and that all the necessary tools are always at hand.

Therefore, one of the important points before starting work is preparing the workplace: sit at the table, lay out all the necessary tools on its surface, conveniently place your laptop or magazine with weaving patterns, and you can safely get to work.

Tools and materials

Let's take a closer look at what you need to have to weave a lily from beads.

Beads

It is important to choose the right color and size of beads.

For the lily, Czech beads No. 10 or Chinese beads No. 12 are suitable.

As for color, you must have the following five shades:

  • white (petals themselves);
  • yellow (flower core);
  • brown (stamens);
  • light green (veins);
  • green (leaves).

Beads

You will need them if you decide to weave a lily from beads, observing all the subtleties of the French technique. The size of the beads should be larger than beads. You can experiment with color by making the petals plain or focusing on beads.

Wire

You can also use thread or fishing line to make bead crafts. However, in our case, the leaves and buds of the flower should have a clear curved shape. This result is easier to achieve by stringing beads on a thin wire (4 mm).

It is better to make the stem from thicker wire.

Round nose pliers

To cut a piece of wire to the required length.

Floral ribbon

Used to give the stem an organic, finished look. If the ribbon is missing, it can be replaced with green thread.

Beaded tiger lily

A beaded tiger lily will decorate your home, a composition of large flowers with brightly colored petals will delight you with lush blooms all year round, and even when there is a snowstorm outside the window, sunny flowers will definitely lift your spirits and warm you with their rays.

To make the flower we will need beads in the following shades: transparent amber, dark amber and orange. For petals and sepals, green beads of several shades: from dark to light. In this craft we used cutting, the beads have a cylindrical shape, and in the light they shimmer with all the colors of the rainbow, which is why such flowers will become a bright decoration of any interior.

It doesn’t matter what kind of bud you are making - a DIY orchid or a rose - for the main weaving you will need a thin wire with a diameter of 0.3. We will make petals and leaves on a thin wire, but to form a flower we will need a thicker base - a diameter of 0.9. To decorate the stem you will also need a floss thread or tape to hide the wire. The pistils and stamens should be made separately; large beads should be prepared for the pistil, and orange beads No. 10 should be prepared for the stamens.

Look at what lilies can be made from beads, the photos are presented below, and you will see that in each branch we will have three large flowers and two unopened buds. Each flower can be made of a different size, reducing the number of beads in the petals in each one. At the very top of the branch is the smallest flower, then the middle one, and at the bottom the largest one.

At the first stage, we need to make six stamens: we need to put 15 orange and 9 burgundy beads on a piece of wire, and then the wire is threaded in the opposite direction only through 15 orange beads. Thus, we will get an amber loop on an orange stem - this will be the stamen.

A stamen cannot do without a pistil: we will need three large amber-colored beads, beads No. 8 or No. 6. Three beads will be made into a loop, and for the leg, 15 dark green beads should be strung.

Techniques used

As we have already said, a lily can be woven using two techniques. Let's take a look at their features.

French weave

This technique is also called arc weaving and is often used to create leaves and flowers on plants. This technique is easy to distinguish visually. A thick wire with large beads is attached to the center of each element, and a thinner wire with smaller beads is attached to the base.

Many masters simplify this technique in their works and simply leave a central axis around which the arcs are wrapped. Petals made with French weaving have a more rounded shape.

Parallel weaving

One of the basic techniques in beading. It consists of beads strung in horizontal rows. At the same time, depending on the shape being created, the row can be reduced or increased by adding or subtracting a certain number of beads.

White Lily

Bouquet of white lilies

I got such a delicate bouquet. I made this lily entirely myself, without a pattern, just having mastered the skill of weaving and looking at many photographs with fresh lily flowers.

For weaving you need to take:

- white beads No. 12 - cherry color beads No. 12 - green beads No. 12 - light green beads for stamens - brown beads for stamens - 2 green beads No. 6 for the center of the flower - 2 beads 1cm in diameter for buds - silver wire 0, 3 mm - green wire 0.3 m in diameter - copper wire 1 mm in diameter for the stem - green floral tape - scissors or wire cutters

Let's get started

Weaving in the very well-known technique of threading in arcs in a circle, or it is also called the French technique.

1. Cut the silver wire about 1m. Make a small loop on one side, add about 15 white beads, 14 burgundy beads and make a large loop like in the first image above. Now add 10 burgundy seed beads and as many white beads as needed to wrap around the wire at the top of the first row (see third image above).

2. We continue to set beads, increasing the amount of white beads and decreasing burgundy ones. The rows should fit tightly together, without creating gaps or gaps in the wire.

3. Make three turns around the first row, the third turn should consist of only white beads. Then twist the ends of the wire together, making a leg, and straighten the upper small loop and tuck it into the nearest beads, cut off the excess end.

4. To keep your petal in shape, stitch it with wire in the center. Cut a small piece of wire and, starting from the middle, go to the right and the other end to the left. Repeat the ends one turn at a time to secure the wire. Cut off the excess.

5. Weave 6 identical petals and 6 identical stamens from light green beads with a brown loop at the end. Place about 15 light green beads on a wire 55-60 cm long, then 6 brown ones and return the end of the wire back, passing through the entire row of light green ones. Repeat this action 5 more times using the same wire. This way you will have all the stamens together.

6. Then I took a strong wire, put bead No. 6 on it - this will be the center of the flower, placed the stamens around it, secured it and inserted this center into the lily. Additionally, I secured everything with wire, wrapping everything together. The stem can be decorated with green floral tape; it is very convenient to use, it sticks itself and it is easy to give it the desired shape of the stem.

7. I also wove 7 green leaves, their size is slightly smaller than lily petals. Take green wire and beads, weave according to the same principle and sew the leaf in the same way for an elastic shape.

8. The bouquet can be supplemented with buds. My buds consist of two petals, which I connected together, inserted a bead 1 cm in diameter into the center and twisted the bud. In principle, there is nothing complicated.

9. We screw the buds to the stem wire, wrap them with green floral tape and attach the green leaves. You also need to attach at least 2 green leaves to the flowers. Cover the wire again with floral tape so that your stems are neat.

Now all that remains is to put everything together, give shape and a complete look to the composition.

This is the bouquet of lilies I got, I hope everything was clear and you will like my first bouquet of lilies!

I wish you exciting creativity and don’t be afraid to start even if you don’t understand something. Usually, as you work, you can guess for yourself what and how.
