Tilda ballerina

Your designer ballerina will be perfect as an interior decoration or a cute gift for a child.

What you will need:

  • pattern;
  • fabrics of different colors (for the doll’s body and clothes);
  • threads;
  • soft filler (cotton wool or foam rubber);
  • black threads - floss (needed to embroider eyes and create a hairstyle);
  • wire;
  • scissors, needle.

Helpful Tips:

Choice of fabric. To make a rag doll look beautiful and last a long time, it is better to choose natural fabrics (for example, cotton or linen). For the body, monotonous cuts without a pattern in flesh or beige shades are needed. White material can be easily colored with a solution of tea or weak coffee.

Tilda ballerina has a corset and a fluffy tutu, which will suit any beautiful fabric.

For filler, you can take pharmaceutical cotton wool, a piece of padding polyester or holofiber, and collect pieces of unnecessary fabric. If you need to make the toy heavier, add a little calcined buckwheat, rice or salt. To make the craft have a pleasant light aroma, you can add herbs or a drop of essential oil.

Manufacturing process:

  1. The master class will begin with selecting and printing Tilda's patterns. The size of the parts determines the overall size of the future product. The quantity is indicated inside the details. If “body x 2” means you need to trace the outline of the body once on the fabric, then turn it over and circle it again.
  2. Having cut out all the parts of the future ballerina from the fabric, carefully connect them - sew them by hand or on a machine. At the same time, leave small convenient holes through which you can place the stuffing. When finished, turn the pieces wrong side down.
  3. The good thing about the finished toy is that it has a certain pose. She seemed frozen while performing a dance step. To do this, you need to measure two identical pieces of thin wire so that they are slightly longer than the arms of the future ballerina. Use pliers to bend the edge of each piece, removing any sharp ends. Then, wrapping them with padding polyester (or cotton wool, depending on what is prepared for stuffing), carefully insert them inside the sewn parts of the arms. Fill the voids with the remaining filler.
  4. Stuff and connect the parts of the legs and body according to the lines indicated on the patterns. Leave your hands for now.
  5. Make two small holes in the body in the shoulder area, then insert the ends of the wire sticking out from the arms of the craft into it. Secure both parts with pins and carefully sew using a blind stitch.
  6. Cloth. For a corset, you need to transfer the silhouette of the future ballerina onto the fabric and cut out the bodice. At the back, the edges of the bodice are simply connected and secured to the doll's body. You can decorate the corset of the dress by making lacing from linen or white floss. Sew a pack. A piece of linen with lace sewn at the bottom is suitable for it. You need to sew it along the edge, then pull it off to make the skirt airy. It is better to take a cut larger than the ballerina’s waist in advance, since after stitching the fabric will shrink.
  7. Hairstyle. For it, you can collect a small bundle of dark floss threads or paint the haircut with paints. Complete the look with a small tiara or bows, sewing them neatly to the head.
  8. All that remains is to make pointe shoes for the beauty - the leftover fabric from the dress pattern and white threads will do. The ballerina is ready!

  • threads, sewing needle, scissors;
  • any filler (cotton wool or padding polyester);
  • floss threads for embroidering eyes and shaping hairstyles;
  • thin metal wire.

Procedure for the master class

  • First you need to make a pattern, transfer it to a fabric folded in half and cut out all the details of the ballerina's tilde (body with face, arms and legs) from the fabric.
  • Then you need to sew together the parts cut out in duplicate and folded facing each other, leaving holes in certain places for filling with filler, and turn out all the elements of the future doll.

  • In order for the doll we made to acquire the pose of a ballerina with her arms raised above her head, we take a wire a little longer than the length of the doll’s arm, wrap it with cotton wool or padding polyester, and bend it so that its sharp edge does not pierce the fabric, insert it into the elements of the arms. After this, we fill the cavities of the hands and other parts with filler.

  • We sew the parts of the doll’s legs to the body in certain places, and one of them can be sewn at an angle (in a raised shape).

  • To sew the parts of the arms to the body of the doll, you need to make holes in the required places of the body (near the shoulders), push the ends of the wire from the arms there, secure with pins and sew using a hidden seam.

  • We dress the doll, for which, using the pattern of the ballerina’s body, we create a corset from fabric of a different color, as well as a fluffy tutu skirt made from a piece of fabric gathered on one side, according to the “sun-flare” principle.

  • The final stage of our work is to design the doll’s face using embroidery or drawing the doll’s eyes, as well as creating a beautiful hairstyle, which can be made from threads or painted with acrylic paints.

That's all, as a result of the master class, our handmade tilda ballerina is ready!

To create such a doll, handicraft masters use natural plain fabrics, for example, linen, calico or cotton. Clothes for a doll can be made from silk, guipure or other similar fabrics in bright colors. When designing the doll's face and hairstyle, you can show all your imagination by giving her an original face with eyelashes, and decorating her hairstyle with a variety of decorations made of beads, ribbons or guipure. Don't forget to paint your ballerina's pointe shoes using acrylic paints.

Handicraft masters have invented ways to create such dolls from different materials: foil, napkins, and also plain paper. Such toys look very good as New Year's or any other holiday decor.

Whatever material the ballerina tilde is made from, it will always be a worthy addition to your interior or an original souvenir that both children and adults will surely enjoy.

Fat Tilda ballerina

If you want to make a cute, at the same time funny gift, you can make a ballerina doll with your own hands. Beautiful, but... fat. The sewing principle will remain standard, only the patterns differ.

So that the finished doll can stand, you can make a special stand for it using thick wire and cardboard. The dancer's pumpkin will certainly lift your spirits.

For hairstyles it is convenient to use threads of a dark shade. Sew them carefully to the head, forming a bun or ponytail. Complete the hairstyle with a small hairpin, made from a pair of sequins.

Tilda - hare ballerina

To make a collectible Tilda - a hare ballerina, there are 2 options:

  1. Find original patterns. Make sure that the toy has a slender body and long legs (paws). The fabric can be taken in a gray or light brown shade for naturalness.
  2. Add bunny ears to standard ballerina patterns. Step by step transfer the patterns of Tilda - the person, then transfer the details of the bunny ears, choosing the size and shape to match the toy figurine. For the tail, light floss is suitable. Then the finished ballerina will turn out beautiful and graceful, gray in color with ears and a small tail at the back. You can attach it outside, on the skirt, or inside, under it.

Do-it-yourself mouse doll - ballerina

A cat or a little mouse looks beautiful - a ballerina, sewn with her own hands.

What you will need:

  • ballerina mouse pattern;
  • pieces of fabric (gray felt - body, tulle - dress);
  • threads, needle;
  • soft filler (cotton wool, padding polyester, pieces of fabric).

Manufacturing process:

  1. Step by step cut out and transfer all the details of the ballerina pattern. To make the mouse look natural, it is better to take dense fabric (felt) of a light gray shade.
  2. Connecting the parts - sew together the parts of the paws (upper, lower), carefully sew the long tail, leaving holes for subsequent stuffing.
  3. To give the mouse more elegance, you can slightly change the shape of the body parts or give the craft a ballet pose by joining your hands. It is not necessary to use wire; you can sew them together with your palms on the belly of the toy.
  4. Make your own version of the dress: a full skirt and a real corset.

Master class on creating a ballerina

Having chosen a suitable template for cutting, you need to prepare your workbench. So, to make a doll you will need:

  • Pieces of beige fabric for the shell of the toy.
  • Fabric for clothing, such as tulle.
  • Threads, needle, scissors.
  • Sewing machine (optional).
  • Filler.
  • Floss threads for shaping the face and yarn for the hair.
  • Paints.
  • Metal wire of medium thickness.
  • Little things for decoration.

  1. First you need to cut out the details of the template and transfer them to the fabric folded in half. Then cut out the doll's parts along the line, while making gaps for the seams.
  2. Paired pieces are sewn together. Leave a small hole for filling with filler.
  3. The resulting blanks are turned outward and filled with filler. For convenience, you can use a pencil or sushi sticks.
  4. If you need the doll to keep its shape, you should make a frame from wire. The frame is wrapped with padding polyester or ordinary medical cotton wool. Then the arms and legs are “put on” the frame. And only after that the toy is filled with filler.
  5. Next, the arms are sewn to the body. To do this, make small holes in the area of the doll's shoulders and insert the ends of the wire there. For convenience, you can secure your hands with pins.
  6. The arms and torso pieces are then sewn together. The legs are sewn using the same pattern.
  7. Now the ballerina's face and hair are being shaped. Using floss threads, the eyes and mouth of the toy are embroidered. And they create hair from yarn, which is then combed into a high bun.

The doll is ready! All that remains is to make the clothes.

As a corset, you can paint the doll's body (up to the waist) with white or light blue paint. When the surface dries, the corset can be decorated with sparkles, rhinestones or other beautiful little things.

Now you need to make a tutu skirt. To sew a skirt, you need to cut out five circles with a diameter of 15 cm from tulle. Then the blanks are folded four times. The next step is to cut an arc, the diameter of which will be approximately 0.3 cm. The resulting blanks are folded together and stitched in the belt area. Now the skirt can be put on the toy. The seam should be decorated with rhinestones.

Making pointe shoes for a doll is as easy as shelling pears. To do this, a small piece of satin fabric is folded in half. Then the foot pattern is transferred to fabric. The shoe parts are cut out, leaving space for the seams first. Paired parts are stitched together and turned inside out. Now a small piece of satin ribbon is sewn to each shoe and secured crosswise.

The handmade doll is ready!

How to sew a tutu for a ballerina

For a ballerina, you need a beautiful, fluffy dress - a tutu. The hardest part is making the skirt. They usually don’t bother with the top, making a simple white top without straps. You can sew multi-colored beads onto it, it will look more elegant. Sew white threads to the back of the top, making lacing.

For a circle skirt you need a piece of snow-white tulle or other similar material. If the fabric is thin and see-through, you can additionally sew a shorter petticoat and provide the ballerina with beautiful long johns like those worn by girls in the 17th and 18th centuries.

Patterns are optional; you can cut out the skirt and top separately by eye. The only thing is that the skirt will require more fabric due to assembly.

Master class from Irina Ignatchenko

If Tilda the ballerina was intended as an interior decoration, then her outfit should be combined with the surrounding environment. This should be taken into account when selecting material for sewing a pack.

It will be easier if you still have old elegant dresses from dolls. You can cut off the excess, adjust the size, and the beautiful ballerina is ready.

Fashionistas love to sew several different outfits so that they can dress up the ballerina later. To do this, the pack does not need to be attached to the doll’s body. It is better to combine the top with a full skirt and think about the clasp so that the dress can be easily removed.

Useful tips for beginners

Having decided to master this type of creativity, you should not immediately run to a textile store for expensive fabrics and special tools. Everything you need can be found at home by sorting through the little things that have accumulated . And of course, do not forget about some nuances when sewing a ballerina:

  • To sew a toy, you must use only natural fabrics: linen, flannel, cotton and others.
  • Any fabrics can be used for outfits. The color and style of clothing is selected exclusively individually.
  • Holofiber is considered the best material for stuffing a doll. If you cannot find such material, then you can use padding polyester.
  • Plush yarn is used as hair in making the toy. Thanks to her, the hair is closer to real hair.
  • The toy can be stitched either on a sewing machine or by hand. And to make the seams look more neat, you should use non-woven fabric.
  • In order for the doll to have a flesh-colored “skin” shell, it can be soaked in tea or weak coffee for a while.
  • The main feature of any textile Tilda doll is the blush on the cheeks. For this, regular blush is used, and if there is none, then it is replaced with crushed colored pencil lead.
  • If the doll will serve as decoration in the room, then you can add a pinch of cinnamon and vanilla or any other pleasant spice to the toy’s filling.
  • And of course, the decisive role in creating a toy is its life-size pattern.
