Large stores begin to make the first preparations, but by the middle of the month almost everyone is ready for the holiday. And although there is a wide selection of decorations for any occasion on sale, many people prefer handmade decor and make Christmas houses with their own hands.

Where and how to put

In our country, the New Year is a noisy and cheerful holiday; it is a wonderful time that begins with preparation. Fairytale houses made of cardboard

A cute miniature New Year's village will be a wonderful decoration for any window, shelf, or any surface. To make it yourself, you will need:

  • Thick paper (for watercolors, etc.) or cardboard;
  • Pencil, ruler, scissors and paper clips;
  • Decorative paper, ribbons, cotton wool, snowflakes, etc.;
  • Curly scissors;
  • Glue;
  • Spoke.

You can use a ready-made template - print it on paper of the required thickness or transfer it through carbon paper. If for one reason or another it is impossible to do this, or you need a house of a certain size and shape, you need to draw a diagram of the toy.

The house will require 6 parts - 4 walls, a roof and a floor. All these details need to be drawn on cardboard, making allowances for gluing of 1 cm on each side. Layout of a winter house for example: the bottom is a square 15 by 15 cm, two walls are 15 by 15 cm, two other walls are of a similar size, but at a height 10 cm bevels are made to the center of the upper side, forming a rise under the roof. For the roof you need a rectangle 15 by 20 cm.

Prepare parts from beautiful paper. Cut out the door and window frame separately from cardboard and glue to the base. Cut out the details of the house according to the diagram, not forgetting about the allowances. Draw all fold lines with a knitting needle, then bend. Glue the walls to the floor, securing the glued allowances with paper clips.

Fold a strip of 15 by 20 cm in half along the long side. Using curly scissors, cut 12 strips at intervals of 1 cm and glue to the roof, imitating tiles. Glue the roof to the house. Decorate the lower part of the roof and walls by gluing cotton wool. The lower corner of the roof can be supplemented with various decor - half beads, snowflakes, stars, etc. The DIY fairy house is ready!

What will you need to have to create a small house for the New Year with your own hands?

Many people believe that creating a house is quite difficult. Here you need to work a lot with cardboard or other materials to make something colorful and attractive.

Of course, you can start creating a house from denim impregnated with epoxy resin, but a beginner will not be able to master such work the first time.

It is much more convenient to use an ordinary lamp box, which can easily be turned into a fairy-tale house. Illumination can be done easily using a couple of LEDs taken from disposable lighters.

You don’t even need the help of a master; everything can be done literally on your knees; you have a small number of tools.

To create a fairytale house for the New Year you will need:

  1. Cardboard box.
  2. Stationery knife.
  3. Scissors.
  4. Hot glue.
  5. Several samples of bright fabrics, including velvet.
  6. Three disposable lighters with LED bulbs.
  7. Switch.
  8. Soldering iron.
  9. Awl.
  10. Scotch.

Everything you need can be found in any store and there should be no difficulty in finding materials and tools.

It is worth noting that hot melt glue would be the best choice. This type of glue is environmentally friendly, it does not have a strong odor like PVA glue, and is capable of firmly holding completely different materials together.

You will also need to use tape, which will help you quickly build a roof for the house, which can be achieved by gluing the box lids at an acute angle.

Silhouette cutting and protruding

A DIY Christmas village doesn’t have to be voluminous. To decorate a window with this craft, you will need:

  • Whatman paper, sheet of cardboard;
  • Pencil, ruler;
  • Stationery knife and glue;
  • Templates of two or three houses, stylized Christmas trees and trees.

Whatman paper must be smooth, so it must first be ironed with a warm iron. Step back 3-5 cm from the bottom edge and draw a line along the entire length of the sheet. Draw a village - snow-covered houses, trees, benches, Christmas trees, etc. To do this, you can use printed and cut out templates. It is important that the overall lines of the top and bottom are unbroken. Be sure to draw carved windows and gaps between the branches.

Cut off the top line of whatman paper. After this, cut out small parts with a stationery knife. Fold the sheet along the marked bottom line. Cut out several long strips 1.5-2 cm wide from thick cardboard. Step back 4 cm from one edge and bend. Glue these supports to the back of the paper village. You need to glue it so that the bent leg is attached to the bent strip of whatman paper, and the other end to the internal parts of the houses. This gives the structure stability.

This cut-out craft can be supplemented with a diode garland by running a wire from the back of the sheet. Soft lighting will give a festive look and decorate the window both from the inside and from the outside.

In the same way, you can decorate a window by gluing cut out houses to it using regular soap. The technique of cut-out pictures is called “vytynanka”; there are many ready-made templates for printing, which are cut out with a knife on paper or a simple blade.

Step-by-step master class

Step 1

Draw or print out a template and use it to cut out a blank for the house (walls, roof and chimney) from cardboard.

Step 2

We bend the cardboard blank along the fold lines and glue it together. To make window shutters and doors look more voluminous, it is better not to just draw them on the walls, but to cut out additional parts of the required shape from cardboard and stick them on. We seal the inside of the window openings with a film that imitates glass.

Step 3

Let's start applying snow. A jar of artificial snow can be purchased at any craft store. In places where we will have snowdrifts, apply a little glue and lay out piles of snow on top of it with a round brush, giving a realistic volume. Remember what the roofs of houses look like in winter, and this will help you in your work.

Step 4

When the work with snow is completed, let the product dry thoroughly, after which we begin to create shining icy frost on the walls of the house. To do this, each wall in turn is completely coated with glue using a flat brush and evenly sprinkled with a thin layer of white glitter. Blow off excess glitter powder.

Our fairytale decoration house is almost ready. All that remains is to decorate the shutters and doors to your taste, and also glue the craft to the cardboard base.

Alternatively, the house can not be glued, but simply placed on top of a base additionally decorated with homemade trees. And in the evenings, try lighting a battery-powered LED candle inside it. It looks amazing and really looks like a fairy tale!
