Not everyone can crochet booties. This requires patience and some basic knitting knowledge. Therefore, if you decide to please your “little miracle” with a new thing made by yourself, we will teach you how to crochet booties beautifully and correctly. Booties for beginners - this will be the first part of a large lesson, then we will move on to more complex models.

Basic rules for knitting booties

When creating his first shoes for a baby, you should follow a number of simple rules so that the new thing cannot do any harm.

  • choose soft, natural yarn that does not cause allergic reactions;
  • carefully calculate the size of the product so that it does not squeeze the foot and toes; it is better to knit booties of a slightly larger size;
  • try to sew on all decorative elements as tightly as possible, especially hard and small ones;
  • do not use knitting methods that involve the presence of relief patterns and seams that can damage the baby’s skin.

The choice of hook for creating booties should be based on the thickness of the thread used in the work; if the hook is too thin, knitting will be difficult. If you use a hook that is too thick, the knitting will be weak and the product will not hold its shape.

The choice of colors for the product is unlimited, but it is better not to use yarn that is too bright, as such threads may begin to fade. Decoration options depend only on the experience of the knitter. Simple traditional booties can be decorated with a couple of buttons or thread pompoms, and more complex models can be knitted in the form of fashionable adult shoes or funny dogs and bunnies.

How to crochet a sole

Knitting booties always starts with the sole. Depending on the purpose (warm or summer model), the sole is knitted in double or single layer, dense or looser. The sole for booties is crocheted in the round; here are some of the most common patterns:

Size of crochet booties for newborns and toddlers

The length of a child's foot, of course, depends on age, but you should not rely on our size chart. It's better to measure your baby's foot, because... Children are born of different weights and builds. At the same age, the leg may differ by more than a few millimeters. Here are some indicative statistics:

  • from 0 to 3 months, the length of a newborn’s foot is 9-10 cm
  • from 3 - 6 months foot length 10-11 cm
  • from 6 - 12 months foot length 11-12 cm
  • from 12 - 18 months foot length 12-13 cm
  • from 18-24 months foot length 13-14 cm

The length of the foot should be measured from the heel to the most protruding point of the big toe.

Size: for ages 3 to 6 months. To crochet booties of a smaller (or larger) size, you need to take a smaller (or larger) hook number and yarn of the appropriate thickness.

You will need: - DM C Senso yarn (100% mercerized cotton, 137 m/50 g): for model A in sky blue (1109) and white (1101) colors, for model B in green (1108) and white (1101) colors , for model C lilac (1116) and white (1101) colors - yarn DM C Cebelia No. 20 (100% mercerized cotton, 450 m/50 g) white color for all models hook No. 1.25 and No. 2.5 - needle for knitwear - hot-melt interlining material

— Velcro fastener — sewing thread and needle.

Start knitting from the top of the bootie. To do this, perform a chain of 20 vp. (sky blue thread for A, green for B and lilac for C) crochet number 2.5.

Row 1: ch 1 (= 1 tbsp. b/n) and 19 tbsp. b/n. Rows 2-14: Knit all sts. b/n, decreasing 1 p. at the end of each row. Knit 2 ch, break the thread and pull through the loop to secure. Then knit the back of the bootie. To do this, perform a chain of 21 vp. Row 1: ch 1 (= 1 tbsp. b/n) and 20 tbsp. b/n. Row 2: ch 1 (= 1 tbsp. b/n) and 19 tbsp. b/n. Row 3: ch 1 (= 1 tbsp. b/n), 6 tbsp. b/n, 3 groups of closed ones together 2 tbsp. b/n, 7 tbsp. b/n. Rows 4-9: ch 1 (= 1 st. b/n), then knit all the loops of the st. b/n, decreasing 1 p. at the end of each row. Knit 2 ch, break the thread and pull through the loop to secure.

Sole knitting pattern.

Knit 2 soles. Make a chain of 15 ch, then 1 ch. (= 1 st b/n), 13 st b/n, 2 st b/n in the last ch. Work 15 sc on the other side of the starting chain, then 1 sc in the last stitch of the stitch. Row 1 is worked. 2nd row: 2 sc in vp. previous row, 13 tbsp. b/n, 2 sc in each of the last 2 loops. 3rd row: 2 tbsp. b/n in the 1st loop, 8 sc, 3 double crochets, 3 double crochets, 2 double crochets in each loop of the next 6 stitches, 3 double crochets, 3 double crochets, 8 tbsp. b/n, 2 b/n stitches in each of the last 3 stitches. 4th row: 2 tbsp in the first loop, 9 tbsp. b/n, 3 half double crochets, 6 double crochets, 2 double crochets in each of the next 6 stitches, 6 double crochets, 3 double crochets, 9 double crochets, 2 double crochets in each from the last 5 loops. 5th row: 2 sc in the first loop, 1 sc in each loop of the previous row, 1 sc in the first loop of the beginning of the row, 1 conn. Art. next loop. Knit 2 ch, break the thread and pull through the loop to secure.

Some models of booties must have hard soles. To do this, you need to cut a piece of viseline (heat-fusing cushioning material) measuring 10 x 6 cm and iron it to the underside of the knitted sole. Carefully cut off excess vlsellne around the sole. It is recommended to stitch (or hand stitch) all layers of the sole so that they do not come off when washed. You can connect the first with the second sole 1 next to the connection. st., inserting the hook into the back lobe of each of the loops of the last row of the sole.

Sew the upper part to the sole, inserting the needle under the front segment of the loops of the last row. Next, sew the back part in the same way. Tie the edges of the top and back parts with white Senso thread: 1 tbsp. b/n, * 3 v.p., skip 1 p., 1 tbsp. b/n * Repeat from * to * until the end of the row.

To fasten with white thread, make a chain of 22 chain stitches. and knit 1 row st. b/n. Tie the fastener on all sides with 1 row of st. non-woven sky blue thread (model A) or green thread (model B) or lilac thread (model C). Sew one end of the fastener to the bootie, then sew one part of the Velcro onto the other end of the fastener and the second part opposite. Knit the second bootie in the same way, but make the clasp on the other side. Crochet the flowers with size 1.25 crochet using Cebelia thread and sew them onto the booties.

Yarn used: yarn "Laska" (Trinity Worsted Factory)

baby booties, hook No. 1.6

Description

Cast on a chain of 10 chain stitches (turquoise yarn), and on this chain knit an oval measuring 6*9 cm.

Next (with the same thread) 1st row: without any increments, tie the entire sole with half-columns. 2nd row: knit with half-columns that are turned 90 degrees to the half-columns of the previous row (sole) so that the chain of half-columns of the previous row remains visible from the outside. 3-4 rows: single crochet without increasing in each loop of the previous row. Rows 5-6: single crochet with white thread without increments in each loop of the previous row. 7th row: single crochet with turquoise thread without increments in each loop of the previous row. 8th row: single crochet with white thread without increasing in each loop of the previous row. Next, knit the toe with the tongue and the sides with the heel separately. Start knitting the sock with white thread. To make the sock voluminous, tie it with two rows of half-columns (see rows 1-2), turned 90 degrees to each other. In the 1st row of the sock, knit 4 single crochets in the middle, connect the last stitch at the end of the row to the sock binding with a half-stitch. In the 2nd row, knit 7 single crochets from the 4 previous rows, at the end attach to the binding with a half-stitch. In the 3rd row, knit 10 double crochets, fasten similarly to the previous rows. In the 4th row, knit 13 single crochets. Next, knit another 6 rows without increments with turquoise thread, attaching to the harness. Next, from the 11th to the 17th rows, continue knitting the tongue, without attaching it to the binding, reducing to 11 single crochets. Tie the tongue from the base with white thread. To round the tongue, continue tying with white thread in the next two rows along the top of the tongue (6 single crochets and 4 single crochets, respectively). Next, using a single piece of turquoise thread, continue knitting the sides and heels for 12 rows, decreasing one stitch on each side in every 4th row. Also, at the beginning and end of each 4th row (4th, 8th, 12th), stepping back from the edge by 2 single crochets, make holes for the lace, replacing two double crochets with 2 chain stitches. Tie the sides on all sides with single crochets using white thread. Tie laces from white thread - chains of air loops measuring 50 cm. Thread the laces into the sneakers.

How to crochet booties

Unlike the various options for knitting booties with knitting needles, when crocheting, two parts are clearly distinguished in the product - the sole and the top. And knitting begins from the sole.<<< The beginning of knitting is shown in the diagram with a red arrow - 15 air loops plus one for lifting the row. The length of the chains is approximately from the base of the fingers to the middle of the child’s heel. Next are half stitches (very tight knitting, ideal for soles), single crochets and single crochets. Single crochet stitches, drawn as a fan in the diagram - these are two stitches knitted from one loop. The last row of the sole is tied with a row of half-columns (60 half-columns). The sole can also be knitted with single crochets. In the diagram, in the places where the sole is rounded, 7 double crochets are knitted from one air loop (see explanations below).

Knitting the top of the booties is the most fun part of the job. Here are several options for the design of the top (photo from the Internet, free translation by the author):

You can link it like this.

Here in the pattern, the top of the booties is knitted from the top, from the ankle to the sole, and then sewn (or tied) to it; start - red arrow. Single crochets. In the middle part of the top there is an increase to widen the toe, from one column there are two on both sides of the center front. The knitting ends with the same 60 stitches, which is equal to the perimeter of the blue sole in Fig. above. The booties are tied with a border of single crochet stitches and air loops (light blue in the diagram).

In practice, they usually knit from the sole upwards: without tearing off the thread, on 60 loops of the sole, the top is knitted in the round: 6 rows of 60 stitches, 10 rows with a decrease in the central part of the top on both sides of the middle, two loops together. Next, 2 rows with single crochets, 1 row - three tbsp. double crochet, 1 chain stitch (this is a row with holes for pulling the lace), 2 rows of single crochets, the last row is a border.

You can knit these shoes.

Knit from the sole in the round (the diagram shows double-sided knitting, face and back. In this case, the back is then sewn together. The pattern is taken from a French magazine, but for some reason in the West they don’t like to knit in the round). Decrements on the toe are made evenly along the entire front according to the pattern (of two single crochets - one).

To add height to the back of the shoe, several additional rows are knitted. The strap is a side chain of air loops and 1-2 rows of single crochets.

The shoes are tied with a contrasting thread.

Let's look at the principle of knitting another pair of booties.

The diagram above shows the front part of the booties. The red arrow and air loops are the beginning of knitting, located at the instep of the leg.

There are generally 3 ways of knitting: - knit the parts according to the pattern, everything separately, then sew on (tie, knit); - knit according to the pattern, but at the end of each row, decrease a column and pick up the corresponding column of the sole. Thus, the toe of the shoe will be immediately tied; - finish the last row of the sole in the middle of the front plus three columns. Turn the knitting, knit 6 stitches. Turn the knitting, air loop to lift the row, knit two stitches from one stitch, then 5 more stitches to the end of the row - a total of 7 stitches in the row. When knitting the last stitch, pick up the fourth loop of the sole from the center. Turn knitting. Again 1 column for lifting, 2 columns from one, etc. As a result, when you knit until the leg is raised, you should get 20 loops. We break the thread.

The back of the shoe is knitted with a set of stitches around the perimeter of the sole - bottom pattern. The upper part of the heel is reduced by 4 posts for a better fit to the heel.

Some useful tips on the technique of crocheting booties:

How to knit 7 double crochets from an air loop to round the sole

How to knit two double crochets from one.

How to knit one single crochet out of three (can be used to tighten the tops of shoes, traces in the center of the front part)

One double crochet out of five.

Knitting the top of the bootie sock will look something like this:

The first row of the side of the booties is knitted in columns, inserting the hook not under both “braids” of the previous row, but only under the “back” (the face of the work is looking at you). The remaining part of the braid will be needed when finishing. If you want the sidewall to be at an angle of 90 degrees to the sole, then the hook is inserted under the very column of the last row of the sole.

Now that we have figured out the principles of crocheting booties, I hope you will not be scared by this “Chinese letter”:

Do you recognize the oval below in the diagram? This is the sole. On the top left is the front of the shoes, on the right is the back, the strap goes to the top. The main thing here is to combine the letter designations: we have tied the sole and to point D we continue knitting according to the pattern of the toe of the shoe (point C is the middle of the front). The back is knitted in single crochets from the point opposite D to point A.

And these wonderful booties are knitted from four squares. The squares are knitted separately, then sewn together, or, as when knitting shawls, they are picked up together when knitting the last row of the square. At the bottom of the diagram is the strapping of the upper part of the booties - a place for pulling the lace. The booties are tied after the final assembly of the squares. Please note - the figure of the sole shows the dimensions: 4.5 - chain of air loops, 1.5 - heel, toes - 2 units. The length of the sole corresponds to the length of 2.5 squares. When increasing the size of the booties, it is necessary to increase the squares.

Explanations for this diagram.

From top to bottom: sole, heel. Bottom left is a strap. And finally, the most interesting part - the toe of the bootie - is at the bottom right. It begins with a set of air loops (there are 14 of them in the diagram). Knitting with single crochets. 1 row (number 1 at the very bottom of the picture) - 14 columns, 1 v/p for lifting a row. Turn the knitting over. Row 2 - 12 stitches, on the thirteenth row we knit two stitches from one stitch, 1 stitch, 1 single stitch for lifting the row. 3rd row - 1 tbsp., from one tbsp. two, 2 stitches, attached with a half-column to the fifth loop of the second row, 1 ch, turn the knitting over. 4th row - one half-column, 2 columns, two from one column, 1 column, 1 v/p for lifting. And then, according to the pattern, up to the 10th row inclusive, we knit shortened rows. In the diagram there are black circles - half-columns, white - air loops.

Row 11 - we knit fifteen stitches until connected to the first row (as if we were collecting all the shortened rows 3-10), 5 chain stitches for pulling the strap, 2 stitches. Rows 12-20 - 22 columns each. In the 20th row, don’t forget to make 5 chain stitches for the second hole for the strap. Rows 21-28 - shortened rows with a decrease in the number of columns. 21 rows - 1 column, 1 half-column. We turn the knitting over. 22nd row - 1 single stitch, 1 half-column, 3 double stitches, 2 double stitches together, 1 double stitch. We turn the knitting over. etc. according to the scheme. Row 29 - 1 chain stitch, 1 stitch, 2 stitches together, 12 stitches. Turn the knitting over. 30 row - 14 columns. The toe of the bootie is finished, we sew it to the sole. The back of the bootie - we collect stitches along the rest of the sole and knit, like the blue booties on this page above. The strap is knitted separately.

Another work by Noskova Nadezhda. I found a model of baby booties on the Internet. They knit very simply.

You will need yellow and brown thread. First, I cast on 5 air loops and combined them into a circle. Then I knitted several chain stitches with a single crochet into the circle and gradually began tying them with chain stitches without a crochet, adding several stitches in each row. Knitted into a circular frame to fit the foot. The top can be knitted or crocheted, whichever is more convenient for you))) We embroider the eyes, separately knit the antennae and ears, and sew them on.

Now we knit the sides: We make a chain of 45 vp. 1st row: 2 tbsp in the second loop from the hook, 42 tbsp, 2 tbsp in the last loop, turn = 46 2nd row: vp (for lifting), 2 tbsp. b/n in the first loop, 44 sc.b/n, 2 sc.b/n in the last loop, turn = 48 3rd row: vp, 2 sc.b/n in the first loop, 22 sc.b/n n, 2 sc.b/n together, 22 sc.b/n, 2 sc.b/n in the last loop, turn = 49 4th row: vp, sc.b/n in each column of the previous row = 49 5th row: vp, 2 sc.b/n in the first loop, 22 sc.b/n, 2 sc.b/n together, 23 sc.b/n, 2 sc.b/n in the last loop, turn = 50 6th row: vp, 2 dc in the first loop, 48 dc, 2 dc in the last loop, turn = 52 7th row: vp, dc .b/n in each column of the previous row = 52 8th row: vp, 2 tbsp in the first loop, 24 tbsp.b/n, 2 tbsp together, 24 tbsp.b/n , 2 dc in the last loop, turn = 53 9th row: vp, dc in each column of the previous row = 53 10th row: vp, 2 dc in the first loop, 12 tbsp, 2 tbsp together, 10 tbsp, 3 tbsp together, 10 tbsp, 2 tbsp together, 12 tbsp. b/n, 2 dc in the last loop, turn = 51 The same sidewall in the diagram (maybe this is easier for someone):

It turns out like this:

Next, I knit this chain along the top edge:

I fold the side panel like this (we fold the second one in a mirror image) and sew it to the sole:

On one side of the shoe we sew a flower, on the other side we tie a green chain in the same way as we knitted the chain to the upper part of the sidewall.

To knit booties you will need: light blue Phildar yarn (50% cotton, 50% acrylic, Bulgaria) 140 m/50 g. 1 skein White bulky yarn for tying, hook No. 2.5. Booties size: from 6 months.

Patterns

Sole: knit a chain of 13 chain stitches (ch) and tie it in a circle in three circular rows with single crochets (sc). In this case, you need to make increases along the edges (3 stitches in each row for a total of 9 stitches on the toe and heel). On the toe, knit the 6th row with double crochets.

Backdrop: knit a chain of 10 ch and knit 23 rows with single crochets (sc). 5 rows before the end (after the 18th row), knit a chain of 19 ch to knit a strap. Knit 1 row of sc (19 stitches). At the junction of the strap with the back, knit two loops together (insert the hook into the loop of the bottom row and pull the thread, insert the hook into the next loop, pick up the thread and pull it through the loops on the hook). Knit the 19th and 20th rows of the backdrop, knit 2 rows of the strap and repeat decreasing 1 loop. This is necessary to form the inclination of the strap. Knit two more rows of the back (21st. 22nd rows) and 2 rows of the strap.

At its end, knit a button loop from 3 ch. Knit the last row of the backdrop.

The upper part of the booties: start knitting from 6 middle loops of the toe of the sole. Knit 1 row (out of 6 sc). In the next row, knit 2 stitches from each stitch of the bottom row. Next, knit the top piece separately from the sole. In the 3rd and 5th rows, add 1 stitch from each edge. From the 6th to the 13th rows knit without increases. In the middle of the 8th row, knit a chain of 11 ch to form a membrane. Knit 1 row of the membrane and finish the 8th row of the top piece. Knit the remaining rows of the toe at the same time as knitting the membrane, making 1st decrease on each side at the point of their connection. At the end of the membrane, knit two loops of 3 ch to thread the strap.

Flower: wind 2 turns of white thread around your finger and tie it with 8 sc. Tighten the end of the thread, making a tight core. Tie it in a “crawfish step” (knit 9 sc in the opposite direction - from left to right).

Assembling: tie the edges in a crawfish stitch with white yarn. Connect them to each other, tying them at the same time.

Booties - crochet sandals for newborns

Crocheted 1.25 or 2.0 mm. The yarn is cotton or p/w, the thinner the thread, the smaller the size of the sandal. To reduce the size, you can reduce the length of the original chain in the sole. Usually sandals are 9-12 cm long.

Crochet booties for newborns, step-by-step description

As MK promised and step-by-step photos. I have never done MK, so criticism is accepted and amendments are accepted too. Yarn-Summer- 70% cotton. 30% viscose, Tulip YarnArt for finishing. Hook No. 3 and 1.5. I need booties for the summer for my one month old baby, so cotton. The size of the sole depends on the thickness of the yarn. My foot length turned out to be about 9.8-10 cm.

Good day to all!

Today I want to talk about another model of booties for children. I knitted these booties as part of the envelope and cap for discharge, so all calculations of the number of loops were given by me for the size of a newborn’s foot - about 8 cm.

We will need: Alize Baby Softy yarn, 100% micropolyester (I knit for the fall, so I chose thicker yarn), 1 skein 50 g / 115 m, hook No. 3, stitch markers.

Loops used: chain stitch (CH), single crochet (SC), double crochet (CC), connecting stitch (SS), embossed knit and purl double crochet (LRSS and IRSSN).

Let's get to work. The sole of the booties is an oval, there is a separate lesson on how to knit it, here I will only give a diagram.

We cast on 11 VP (8 main and 3 for lifting, let me remind you that 3 lifting loops when calculating the total number of loops when knitting are counted as 1 DC. I also talk about this in more detail in one of the lessons) and knit 2 rows according to the pattern. If the leg size is large, knit 3 rows.

Then, to strengthen our sole and move from a horizontal knitting plane to a vertical one, we knit 1 row of purl RLS (they are knitted in the same way as IRSSN, only instead of RLS we knit RLS).

Next we knit 2 rows of simple sc, connecting each row with a sl st. If you have a larger leg, knit more rows or replace the sc with a dc.

Now we move on to knitting the toe. I repeat once again, the size of my baby’s foot is 8 cm, so from the center of the toe I put 9 loops in both directions and mark them with a marker. If you have a larger leg, the number of loops will be greater. Next, we knit this way: we knit the main part of the bootie with a sc, and the central 18 loops of the toe with a sc as follows: we make decreases on them, that is, we knit 2 loops together, thus getting 9 loops. In the second row of the toe we knit 9 dcs with a common top, thus receiving 1 loop.

We knit the next row, without any decreases or increases. Where we have the toe, I knit 10 dc. Be careful when crocheting the DC when moving from the toe to the main part so that you don’t get a hole; the hook can be inserted into the lower segment of the DC of the previous row.

Then we knit 3 rows with a 1x1 elastic band from LRSSN and IRSSN, close the row, fasten and break the thread, hide the tails.
