DIY wedding bouquet of satin ribbons

Making bouquets for the bride has recently become a very popular activity. It takes very little time, but compared to a real bouquet it looks much more beautiful, and its huge advantage is that it will be stored in its original form for a long time, reminding of a special day. By the way, it is a wedding bouquet made of ribbons that brides throw to unmarried girls at a wedding instead of real ones. It is possible to compose it in different ways, while also using your imagination and manufacturing secrets. Some make it from ordinary blanks, others use flowers from satin ribbons, and then simply form its shape and size. It all depends on what kind of dress it will be, as well as the flora that the bouquet will consist of.

During production, satin is mainly used. The color of which you need to choose yourself. For this we will need the following materials: a foam ball with a diameter of 11 cm, satin ribbons 5 cm wide, ready-made beads for decoration, as well as a cardboard tube (it remains from foil, cling film or a baking sleeve). It is not sold in finished form. It is this that will be used by the base. You will also need a stationery knife, skewers, lace of your choice and a heat gun.

Cut 3-4 cm from the bottom of the foam ball.

We do not throw away the remaining foam, but on the contrary, we break it into small pieces and fill the tube with them.

All this is so that the skewers hold very well. But first, we need to decide on the length of the handle. Use a utility knife to adjust the length. We determine it ourselves.

Then carefully pierce the base with skewers (through the foam filled inside).

The more skewers, the stronger the bouquet itself will hold. Prick it onto a foam ball.

We do not string it all the way, since it is this base that we still need to secure with hot glue. For this purpose, first leave 0.3-0.4 mm.

Apply glue and press tightly. The result is a blank in the shape of a decorative mushroom.

Now we glue a thin white strip with a diameter of 0.5 cm around the base.

Then we wrap white satin 2.5 cm wide on top of a foam ball and do the same with the bottom.

Next, we use a wide, green one and gradually glue the handle in this way.

We also decorate the bottom of the handle with openwork lace.

The base is ready. Now we begin to form roses of different sizes. Their number will depend on how much you want. So, to make a rose, we first use a width of 5 cm and immediately cut pieces 11 cm long. You will need 8 of them for one rose. Choose the shades yourself.

Now on the first segment from the wrong side we wrap the ribbon on top. Approximately 0.5 mm.

And we turn it with a corner on the right.

Then we turn it inward again with a corner on the right of the same side at an even distance.

We clamp the corner with tweezers and cut off the unnecessary part with scissors. It turns out everything is at an angle. Carefully burn the edges over the fire.

We fix everything and repeat the same thing on the other side. As a result, there should be eight petals. Then on the front side of the first petal we apply a little glue to the edge.

Wrap it all the way.

And we do this with each petal. As a result, you get such an original rose.

If desired, the size of such a flower can be increased by adding additional petals.

It is necessary to use both warm shades and different cold tones. They are attached from above to the base.

Result:

But we also decorate the bottom of the handle with rhinestones.

Then you need a prop like this, it will give the product some charm, and of course, variety.

We glue them where there is a white rose.

Place the beads on the glue between the roses.

It turns out very beautiful. Beads add originality to the product. After them we immediately glue the leaves. For this, you will need a green satin 5 cm wide. First, cut it into pieces of 10-12 cm, fold it in half, first singe the edges, and secure it at the bottom.

So that the convolutions are not visible on top, we put rhinestones around it.

Everything is almost ready, all that remains is to tie a small bow, which requires 0.5 cm stripes and decorate with rhinestones. At the same time, we knit the bow very tightly so that during the ceremony it does not come undone or simply fall off. It can also be fixed with hot glue.

The result is very pleasing!

Suitable forms

A wedding floral ensemble can be assembled in different types. The final option depends on the style of the holiday, the tastes of the bride and the time of year:

  2. Cascade composition. The stems can be of different lengths. This option looks slightly casual, lively and modern. The best solution is spray roses, especially with a fishtail dress.

Refined kanzashi bouquet

The Japanese style of creating textile flowers is no less unique than other types of applied art. The petals are folded from strips of fabric according to the origami principle, and then buds of different shapes, sizes and colors are “assembled” from these parts, as if from a construction set. The technique was called tsumami.

In Japanese tradition, there are three types of petals: round, sharp and long. This is the basis of the entire variety of kanzashi flowers.

Historical reference

The Japanese have long used floral decorations to protect themselves from evil spirits. But living plants quickly withered, while the finest silk products, held together with rice glue, were worn for decades and were even passed down from generation to generation as a valuable family heirloom.

Japanese women decorated their head combs and hairpins with silk flowers arranged in lush compositions - the only jewelry allowed to them. Such hairpins, reminiscent of the branches of cherry blossoms or wisteria, sometimes cost a fortune. These were more works of art than simple holders for long women's hair.

The flowering of kanzashi art began in the 17th century. Its development was greatly facilitated by geishas, who were the first to start doing multi-tiered intricate hairstyles and set an example for others. Depending on age and social status, women were entitled to hairpins of varying degrees of complexity. The most luxurious ones were worn by young unmarried girls, but exemplary wives and mothers should not spend a lot of money on jewelry. Their kanzashi were much more modest.

The types of fabric flowers varied by month and season. In autumn these were chrysanthemums, in spring - plums, camellias or magnolias. Noble, refined kanzashi are popular today far beyond Japan. Using this technique, you can also make a brooch-bouquet from satin ribbons, for example, for Teacher’s Day or for a wedding.

Features of manufacturing and decoration

To make a festive bouquet for the bride from satin ribbons, you need:

  • Consider the size. You should not make the composition too bulky, because it will be impractical.

  • Make the required number of roses from satin ribbons. To do this, pieces of ribbon of the same size are folded into beautiful knots, and then a finished flower is formed from these knots. A large bead or stamen made of silver (gold) thread is placed in the center.
  • The roses are fixed to the frame, and the finished composition is beautifully wrapped in material that matches the colors of the flowers and is pleasant to the touch.
  • If desired, a bouquet of artificial flowers can be supplemented with living plants, for example, bright green leaves.

Experienced craftsmen use a variety of materials to decorate a holiday bouquet: beads, beads, sequins, rhinestones, even precious and semi-precious stones. When decorating a flower arrangement, you must keep in mind:

  • The decor should not stand out from the general style; it should fit well into the finished composition.
  • You should not overload the flowers with decorative elements, otherwise the elements of the composition will look unnatural.
  • Any decor must be securely fixed. During the wedding celebration, the bride moves actively, communicates a lot, dances and walks. It would be a shame if beads or rhinestones fall out of the composition at the most inopportune moment.
  • The decor must match the design of the bouquet.

Color combinations

When composing a wedding composition, its size, shape and color combinations are equally important. When making your own bouquet of roses of different colors, you should give preference to pastel colors. Any light colors - white, soft pink, cream, peach and light yellow - look harmonious in one composition. If the arrangement requires bright colors, then it is better to opt for a two-color bouquet. There are many options with which to combine white roses in a contrasting bouquet. Red, purple, crimson, violet flowers will look great on a white background.

For several seasons in a row, green bridal bouquets made from roses have been very popular. Such arrangements are fully consistent with the concept of eco-style. There are quite a lot of green-flowered varieties on the market, among which it is easy to choose roses of suitable colors. The color range varies from greenish-white tones to soft pink and yellow flowers with a green tint.

To create exotic bright bouquets of roses in blue or light blue, artificially colored flowers are often used. The desired shade is given using colored floral sprays.

Combination of roses with callas and lilies

If you find it difficult to navigate the variety of varieties on your own and determine the best combinations of roses in a bouquet, seek advice from professional florists. They will help you choose the appropriate floral arrangement that will fit perfectly into the style of the celebration and will delight the newlyweds and the gathered guests.
