Coffee toy pattern

Print and cut out the teddy bear pattern. At the end of the article you will find patterns for other figures that are made using exactly the same algorithm as the bear.

Fold the fabric in half and transfer the pattern.

History of appearance

There is even a story about how the first such toy appeared. I agree with her, the woman made a doll from scraps of fabric for her daughter. Since the family lived poorly and there was no one to ask for help, the woman took the girl with her to work in a coffee factory. While the woman was working, her daughter was playing in the attic.

But one day, a little girl accidentally left her doll in the factory attic. She lay there for so long that she grew old. But at the same time, soak in the aromas of coffee, cinnamon and other spices. Now this scent is an integral part of every attic toy.

We sew a toy in vintage style

We sew by hand or by machine, leaving the area between the marks unsewn for turning. Cut out, leaving seam allowances.

If the fabric frays a lot, coat the seam with PVA glue and turn the part inside out before it dries.

We stuff the toy tightly, paying special attention to the ears and paws so that the holofiber is distributed evenly throughout the figure. Sew up the hole with a blind stitch.

At this stage you can sew in a rope. To do this, cut the rope to the required length and tie a knot.

Place the knot into the hole in the toy and sew it with a hidden seam.

Next we will make the upper legs voluminous. To do this, draw lines on both sides of the bear’s body.

Using a thread and a needle, sew through small stitches and tighten the material.

Scented toys in the apartment

A fragrant cat, cat or kitten, as well as many other animals, have a beautiful and funny appearance. A monkey, hare, owl, horse and other coffee dolls will look great in the interior. Flavored coffee toys can be easily made with your own hands. Their smell does not always have to be strictly coffee. Each person has his own preferences and favorite smells, for this reason, in addition to coffee, you can add cinnamon and vanilla. They will add their own special notes to the aroma.

Tinting

We prepare the composition for tinting; for this, pour 2 teaspoons of coffee into 50 ml of boiling water. If desired, you can add a pinch of ground cinnamon and/or vanillin, then add 2 teaspoons of PVA glue and mix well.

Reminder: the more coffee you add to the composition, the darker the final shade will be.

Dip the brush and squeeze it out lightly. We tint the toy.

Try to tint quickly so that the stuffing of the toy does not have time to become saturated.

We dry the figurine in a suspended state on the street or in the oven at a temperature of 100-150 degrees.

Tinting textile toys with coffee solution

Coffee toys appeared in my work relatively recently. There are many different master classes on tinting coffee toys on the Internet. Therefore, I will not open America to anyone. I just want to share with you my version and the nuances of this process. I also don’t pretend to be the ultimate truth - each of you is free to do the tinting as he likes best.

In my method, I combined several methods for tinting coffee toys , and the result was what I think is the most optimal option for a beginner. The tinting turns out even, the seams are clean.

To tint toys with a coffee mixture with PVA you will need:

  • objects for tinting,
  • instant coffee (the cheapest, granulated or powder - it doesn’t matter),
  • warm water,
  • PVA glue,
  • ground cinnamon (optional)
  • synthetic flat wide brush (many people use a foam sponge to tint, but somehow I didn’t have any luck with it),
  • old waffle towel.

First, let's prepare a tint mixture for a textile (coffee) toy: ground coffee, water and PVA glue.

Put 1-2 full tablespoons of instant coffee into a cup (granulated - you can use 1.5-2 at once, powder - start with 1 spoon, as it gives a richer shade, you can always add more if desired), add a little cinnamon. Here we proceed from our preferences, I love the smell of cinnamon, so I put almost a third of a teaspoon.

Fill it all with about 50 ml of warm water and mix well. I did a little more, so I increased the dosage exactly 2 times.

Add 1 full tablespoon of PVA to 50 ml of water and mix thoroughly until smooth. The more PVA glue there is, the stiffer and “woodier” the fabric will be after drying. 1 tablespoon is quite enough, the toys are moderately hard and this amount is enough to subsequently apply paint to the fabric.

Vanilla is not added to the solution, otherwise crystals will be visible on the fabric. We add it either at the stage of stuffing the toy inside, or slightly lubricate the back of the finished product.

Lightly dip the brush into the solution, press it against the edge, and from the middle of the toy we begin to tint the fabric, moving in the direction of the seam. This way we will have an almost dry brush on the seam, because if the seam gets too wet, streaks will remain.

And the other side...

To control after tinting, I always immediately blot the toy with a waffle towel; it will absorb excess solution, if any.

Many people dry toys in the microwave, but I didn’t like this option; it happened that unwanted spots remained, so I dry them the natural way: I expose the entire batch to radiators. It is very convenient, since the coffee pots touch slightly with their legs and slightly with their ears on top. And in winter there’s another plus: they dry faster.
