Fruit crafts

Popular crafts from vegetables and fruits

Many fruits do not need to be shaped - using them whole or in section, you can get spheres, hemispheres, cylinders and other shapes. All that remains is to use your imagination and “assemble the construction set.”

Spectacular images are obtained by using more complex techniques - engraving on the peel, artistic cutting.

Popular ideas:

  • Cartoon characters, monsters, fairy-tale characters;
  • Transport: cars, carriages, locomotives;
  • Fairytale houses and huts;
  • Fruit figurines resembling animals, birds, insects, sea creatures, people;
  • Holiday attributes: compositions in the form of a New Year tree, snowflakes, flower bouquet, tank;
  • Autumn works: baskets with gifts of nature, houses, beds and vegetable gardens.

DIY crafts from vegetables and fruits for an exhibition at school

A huge number of ideas: you can make flowers, animals, equipment and people. And you can even construct entire compositions. Today I will show both simple and complex works. So, choose, do it and tell us what happened!

Penguins.

Using only one fruit you can make funny birds of Antarctica!

  • We make cuts along the sides of the eggplant. The cuts should be in the shape of an oblong ellipse. These are wings.

One moment! The tail of the eggplant should “look” down (or just be slightly lowered), between the wings.

  • Cut off a part in the shape of a large droplet from the front of the vegetable.
  • From the cut part we form the paws.

The stability of the structure can be achieved using toothpicks.

Little mouse.

Lemon is not exactly an autumn fruit, however, it fits the theme of the exhibition: from the gifts of nature!

  • Cut off the bottom of the lemon.
  • From the cut part you need to get 2 semicircular blanks (ears) and one thin and long part - a tail.
  • We make cuts above the tapering part of the lemon and insert eyes (2 peppercorns).
  • Above the eyes, only at a greater distance from each other, we make 2 more cuts and insert the ears.
  • We fix the tail at the back of the craft.
  • We make antennae from thin twigs. We thread them through the narrow part on the “muzzle”.

Mice can also be obtained from other oval vegetables if you make designs using the same principle.

Daisies.

If you look at this bouquet, everything seems so complicated that it cannot be repeated. In fact, even a child can do it! A great idea for a craft for March 8th or Teacher's Day.

  • Cut the peeled onion in half crosswise. We remove layers one by one.
  • We cut the edges of each layer in the form of separate petals (while the middle of the onion layer remains single).
  • Cut out circles from carrots. It’s not important to make balls, you can cut the carrots into balls, just make the layer thicker.
  • Place a circle of carrots in the middle of the onion layer and secure everything with a toothpick.

If you insert toothpicks with flowers into broccoli cabbage, you will get a real flowering meadow.

Simple crafts from vegetables for kindergarten

A child of 4-6 years old can independently or with minimal participation of an adult be able to recreate the following works:

Caterpillar

You will need any “balls” - tomatoes, potatoes, round onions, radishes or apples, tangerines. The elements are connected to each other with skewers, forming a caterpillar.

Horns

ladybugs

The tomato is cut in half and placed on a lettuce leaf. The olives are cut in half and used to make spots on the wings and a head. All elements are secured with toothpicks. The legs are made from olives or plasticine and placed next to the abdomen.

Autumn crafts from eggplants on the theme of Golden Autumn

Children love crafts from vegetables, so they are ready to help their parents or even take the initiative. All you have to do is offer an interesting version of eggplant crafts. Such crafts are original, but sometimes require processes with a knife. Therefore, in this case, the child will need help.

An eggplant penguin can cause tenderness and a smile. And they turn out to be quite believable.

To make such a craft, you don’t need much - eggplants, scissors/knife, plasticine.

In the middle of the vegetable, along the length, you need to cut an oval. This will be the belly of a penguin. Cut out small circles from pieces of skin to represent buttons.

We will make the feet of the paws and mouth from orange plasticine. We cut the eggplant skin on the sides and glue the edge to the middle. Such a penguin will have a character, as if he wants to tell us something. And we make the penguin’s eyes like this: we cut out the skin where the eyes will be and in the middle we glue pieces of the skin - the pupils.

An eggplant penguin can turn out to be unique and quite unique for everyone, because each child has his own idea and images.

If preschoolers and primary schoolchildren work on their work together with mom or dad, the complexity of the work in technical and decorative terms can be increased. Parents will have to cut hard fruits, cut holes, and scrape out seeds. Children can be entrusted with the design and decoration processes.

DIY autumn crafts from vegetables and fruits for kindergarten - all new items

Autumn should be greeted in high spirits. Fun and playful crafts will help us with this.

Old man from a pear.

  • We mark where the eyes, hair and other details will be on the pear.
  • We insert peppercorns into the pear in place of the eyes.
  • From twigs we make a mouth that smiles.
  • We paint the cheeks.
  • The nose is pieces of carrots.
  • The eyes are the thin petals of a flower.
  • Hair can be made from tufts of thin short grass.
  • We fix all this on a pear to make the head of an old man.
  • We thread the narrow part of the second pear with a twig. We will get 2 hands.
  • We make buttons on the old man’s “clothes” from rowan berries.
  • We secure both pears to each other.

This old man plays the violin. But you can come up with different activities for him at your request.

Cucumber train.

Let's make this train from cucumbers, zucchini or zucchini. How many cars will there be on the train? You decide!

  • Cut off the butt of the cucumber and remove the top.
  • From another cucumber we make a cabin for a steam locomotive. Cut the middle of the cucumber, cutting off the top and bottom. In this detail we will make windows and doors. And the cut part from the first cucumber will serve as a lid for the caina.
  • Place the first cucumber horizontally, cut side up. We attach the cabin with the roof to it. The locomotive is ready!
  • We are making a carriage. Cut off the top and bottom of the cucumber. Cut the vegetable lengthwise so as to divide it into 2 parts: large and smaller.
  • For the most part, we cut out the middle to leave walls 0.5 cm thick on all sides. it turns out to be a carriage.
  • For the carriage and locomotive we make wheels from carrot washers on a toothpick (we attach carrot circles to both sides of the toothpick). We attach these blanks to the main parts.
  • We fasten the carriage and the locomotive together. This is how we do the whole composition.

What will your train carry? Any vegetables or fruits!

The most beautiful crafts from vegetables and fruits for the exhibition Gifts of Autumn

Sometimes, in order to prepare a beautiful craft, you need to heat treat the vegetable. For example, this work.

Aster from a bow.

  • Make 4 cuts on a large onion, dividing the top of the vegetable into 8 parts (the bottom remains untouched).
  • Drizzle with butter and balm (sauce). You can even add salt and pepper to give the flower a nice texture.
  • Bake the onion until all the “petals” of the flower open.

This craft can even be served at the table!)

Teddy bear made of oranges.

Let's use the soft orange peel for the next project.

  • Cut off the top and bottom of the orange.
  • Cut out the inside of the citrus fruit (all the segments).
  • Starting from the top edge, we make 2 arched cuts in one direction and the other. The distance between the cuts should be 1.5-2cm.
  • Cut out the part that is between these cuts. We focus on the bottom line of the cuts.
  • From the cut top we cut out 2 parts. Use scissors to give them the shape of circles.
  • In the cut bottom part of the orange, we make cuts at the top (we focus on the place where the stalk grew. This will be Mishka’s nose).
  • Above the “spout” we insert 2 dried cloves (spice) into the orange peel.
  • On the other side of the cuts made on the workpiece, we make 2 small cuts to insert Mishka’s head into them.
  • Cut some of the orange segments into pieces. We place them inside our craft.

From the remaining part you can make an umbrella and decorate the structure. A few more ideas and photos for your inspiration.

These are again the works of the Spanish artist Sandra Suarez from the project “Playing with Fruits”.

How to make crafts from vegetables even more interesting

Engrave ornate patterns on the skin with a knife - the turtle will have a spectacular openwork shell. Watermelon rind is ideal for the same purpose: the white patterns on it will look more contrasting.

On a note. Children may find it difficult to work with small details such as the mouth, nose, and eyes. So that they do not look unsightly on the finished product, you can sculpt them from plasticine, cut them from foamiran or colored paper.

Beads and seed beads are also suitable. You can attach the parts to the smooth surface of the peel using double-sided tape. Choose materials that are easier for your child to work with. Smooth, bright and clear fragments will decorate the product and not spoil it.

What crafts to make from vegetables and fruits for the autumn holiday

Pumpkin baskets filled with vegetables will look perfect. To do this, make the necessary cuts in the pumpkin along the marked lines, scrape out the seeds and some of the pulp with a spoon. And fill the basket with the gifts of autumn.

Service.

Well, what's a holiday without tea? It came to the dishes! Let's make a cup and a teapot!

  • From several (according to the number of service items) pumpkins, cut off the top and take out the middle.
  • Such cut off lids can be used as saucers, just cut off the very bottom of the saucers to give them balance.
  • We attach a handle and spout to the teapot, and only a handle to the cup. What can handles be made from? From a pipe, from twigs, from peels.

By the way, a slightly smaller service can be made from apples, oranges and other fruits, fruits and vegetables.

Alarm.

Another attribute of autumn, relevant for all students! We have already made a clock from cardboard, but today the theme is vegetables, so we will make a clock from a pumpkin.

  • Cut the pumpkin in half. Take everything out from the middle of the vegetable.
  • To avoid a hole, we will attach a small part from the one that was cut from the pumpkin into the middle.
  • Cut off equal sized pieces from the top and bottom of the eggplant. Attach them to the top of the pumpkin.
  • Cut off the skin from the rest of the eggplant and cut out arrows and numbers for the alarm clock.
  • Let's fix the arrows and numbers on the dial. Ready!

Now our students won’t sleep, and such an original craft will attract attention at the autumn festival.

And apples, and bananas, and pears, and grapes, and watermelon is an excellent material for crafts!

I really liked the watermelon house and the table made of crusts.

Completely edible fruit crafts

If your goal is not to present an exhibit for a creative competition, but to surprise your family or friends with an unusual table setting, work on a composition that can be easily taken apart and eaten. A few options to note:

Banana dolphins

Cut the bananas in half and place the cut side on a plate. Cut the bananas on top by 3-4 cm, put a berry or candy inside. On the sides of the resulting beak, draw eyes with a marker.

Edible bouquet

Take wooden skewers with a length of 30 cm. Stick pomegranates, grapefruits, persimmons, kiwis, apples, lemons on them - whole or in halves. Arrange the bouquet, fasten the skewers with tape or thick threads closer to the ends. Wrap in corrugated/craft paper or decorative cellophane. To make the bouquet more green, add mint and lemon balm.

Vitamin tree

Take a carrot base, insert branches - skewers - into it. String large and small berries on each branch. Strawberries, grapes, raspberries are suitable. You can alternate berries with tangerines, plums, kiwi slices and pears. Cut a star from a red/yellow apple.

Peacock

Place a large avocado on a plate, insert long skewers into the lower (wide) area, forming a fan. It can lie on a platter or open up like a rainbow behind the bird's back.

Thread green and blue grapes onto skewers. The tips can be decorated with strawberry slices or tangerine slices. Below the tail of the avocado, use olives and toothpicks to form eyes, and from the seed - a beak.

Do you have certain products in mind, but no ideas come to mind? For you - the following selection of illustrative examples.

Potato crafts for school

Potato cat. The potato cat is very similar to a real purr!

Author https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iZHvUGhoOds

  • Cut off the narrow part of the carrot (approximately half of the carrot). The tail is ready!
  • Divide the wide part of the carrot in half. Take the middle and cut it in half lengthwise. These are the front legs.
  • Cut off the bottom of the remaining carrot. Cut the workpiece in half lengthwise. There are hind legs!
  • We will need a carrot circle 0.5-2cm thick. cut the washer in half. And then we cut off all the excess in each half to get triangles. Ears!
  • We put all the parts on toothpicks and combine them with two potatoes (the larger one is the body of the cat and the smaller one is the head) into a single structure to make a cat.
  • We make the eyes and nose from plasticine.
  • We make antennae from thin pasta.

I’ll also tell you how to make a bear out of potatoes . From one potato we make two upper and lower legs, as shown in the photo. Let's make a pot of honey: cut the potatoes in half, make a hole in it and insert a flat piece of carrot into it.

We make eyes and a nose from processed cheese and olives.

All that remains is to assemble all the parts using toothpicks. The potato bear is ready.

This vegetable can be used to make many other funny characters from fairy tales.

And funny cartoons can easily be made from potatoes if you add a little plasticine.

More ideas for you.

This is how the collection turned out. I really hope you enjoy it and share it with your friends! Click on your social network button.

Cabbage animals

The rounded head and wide flexible leaves of cabbage are great for creating cartoons like “Smeshariki” and other animals. Cabbage can act as a face, an animal muzzle, or an abdomen. It is convenient to make a hare, pig, turtle, swan, rooster or chicken from it. Cauliflower makes realistic sheep and poodles.

Zucchini figures

A large elongated zucchini is ideal for large figures:

  • Cars and buses;
  • Ships, boats and boats;
  • Airplanes and helicopters;
  • Tanks;
  • Trains;
  • Tractors;
  • Whales, sharks, dolphins;
  • Crocodiles.

It is easy to work with zucchini pulp with a knife - you can literally create sculptures from it, cut into shapes of the desired shape. Engraving looks good on a dark zucchini.

What will come out of carrots?

This root vegetable is used to connect elements because it does not break and has sufficient hardness. You can make fish from whole carrots in the shape of barrels, and rings of different thicknesses can easily be turned into flowers, wheels for transport or patterns.

An oblong root vegetable can be turned into a cone by making appropriate cuts. A long thin carrot can be cut in half - the halves will become octopus tentacles, and if not cut, you will get excellent “logs” for a hut on chicken legs or a rural house.

Autumn crafts from cabbage: how to make a Hare

Autumn, harvest, cabbage - what word can extend this associative series? Of course, when we mention cabbage, a bunny jumps out in front of us. For him, in the fall there is something to profit from in the gardens. And we can make a funny cute cabbage bunny with our own hands. A craft made from cabbage leaves can become a specimen for an exhibition.

You can make such a bunny using two small heads of cabbage. To do this, you need to connect them using toothpicks or wooden skewers. This will be the head and body of our bunny and cabbage leaves.

We will make the ears of our gray one from halves of a green zucchini or cucumber.

Two thick cabbage leaves will help us make bunny feet. You can insert a carrot into one. Eyes can be bought at the store. Make bows, flowers and other decorations according to your taste and desire.

What is made from beets?

With a long and thick root, beets resemble the head of an elephant. Add the beet body, legs and thin slices of ears - the elephant is ready. Appreciate how natural his “skin” looks.

Due to its hardness, beets hold toothpicks well. If you want to get a hedgehog from vegetables, then this is a suitable option. Nothing else is needed for the body; the needles will come from toothpicks.

Thinly sliced beetroot slices can be used to form spectacular roses to decorate creative projects or holiday dishes.

What kind of craft to make from vegetables and fruits for the exhibition “Gifts of Autumn”

Exhibitions and fairs, traditionally held in schools, are a reason for children to rejoice, admiring the creations of others, and a “headache” for mothers who spend the evenings, and sometimes nights, perfecting children’s masterpieces for the competition. In order to have time to complete your plans and purchase the necessary things - from natural materials to cardboard - discuss with your child in advance the idea of making handicrafts from vegetables and fruits for an exhibition at school.

You will find a rich selection of plots and characters in printed children's educational magazines and online publications on children's creativity. Free channels on YouTube on handicrafts will tell you how to beautifully design a craft, helping the child (and mother) understand the intricacies of the craft. The theme of the “Gifts of Autumn” exhibitions is multifaceted: popular cartoon characters, fairy-tale characters, animals, birds are cheerfully placed in autumn meadows in the middle of a fairy-tale forest.

For crafts you will need: vegetables; fruits; natural materials; traditional glue and scissors for needlewomen; varnish to preserve and preserve the craft; various textures and quality paper; cardboard; plasticine. Here is a forest beauty - a “nut” squirrel is storing up supplies for the winter, somewhere a “pineapple” eagle owl is hooting at a bitch, a “carrot” horse is carrying a pumpkin carriage with Cinderella, “potato” Cheburashka is happily playing with the onion boy Cipollino, and “lemon” » The Golden Fish makes your deepest wishes come true.

Crafts in honor of All Saints' Day - Halloween look bold and stylish. Pumpkin - the queen of the vegetable garden - is certainly present in all sorts of forms: as a vase for a maple bouquet of “roses”; like a magic lantern that drives away evil spirits; like an exquisite carriage or ship for travelers. A sketch would not be complete without a black cat and a funny witch in a pointed hat.

Unusual figures from cucumbers

The pimples on the peel of a cucumber resemble the skin of a crocodile. Want to make a Nile monster? Take 3 cucumbers:

  • cut off the ends of the largest one on both sides and place on a plate;
  • the second - smaller - cut to the middle of the length and “open” a little, fix the resulting head on the body;
  • from the third, cut out the paws and tail, add eyes from pieces of olives or peppercorns - the crocodile is ready.

From cucumbers of the same size you can make miniature ballet flats or slippers, from thin cucumber rings you can make delicate flowers. And those who feel confident in figure cutting can try to make realistic mustachioed crayfish using only a knife and cucumbers.

Whatever you're thinking of creating - an eggplant penguin, a lemon goldfish, or a pumpkin candle holder with a sinister smile for Halloween - go for it! Use tips, ideas and advice from experienced craftsmen. Crafts from vegetables are a hobby that doesn't require a lot of money, but will bring your family closer together and awaken your imagination!
