Several years ago, rubber band weaving was on a wave of popularity. Both adults and children practiced it. But even now, in 2021, elastic bands are still in demand. Why? The answer is simple - you can weave anything from rubber bands: from jewelry to large voluminous toys. Such a handmade miracle can be given to friends or loved ones, and they will undoubtedly like it. Let's look at different ways to weave vegetables and fruits from rubber bands.

What will you need?

Depending on what kind of figure you will weave, you will need:

  • The first and probably most important thing is rubber bands. Yes, yes, you can do without everything else, but you can’t do without them. Rubber bands come in a variety of colors (there are even transparent, two- or three-color, shiny and neon), choose the colors, also based on the craft. They are sold both individual bags and sets of different sizes.

  • A hook, it can be either plastic (the kind you always find in separate bags with rubber bands) or metal. If you want to do weaving seriously, then buy a second one, it will never break and will perform its functions better. Metal hooks can easily be bought at any craft store (they are used for knitting); experts advise taking numbers three or four.

  • Machine. It can be small - a slingshot (this is suitable for simple figures); and maybe even larger (there are several varieties, this is a matter of taste; complex figures are woven on a large loom).

Tomato and apple

Please your beloved daughter's dolls with a juicy apple or ripe tomato. To weave them, take:

  • Slingshot;
  • Hook;
  • Rubber bands.

On the right column of the slingshot machine, alternately put four rubber bands twisted in a figure eight. Next, four straight elastic bands are put on both teeth. From the right tooth, drop all the loops to the center. Put on the green iris and remove all the loops from both columns. Pass the ears through each other and pull them tight. Depending on the chosen color of the irises, you can get a red tomato or a green apple. As you can see, weaving can be done without a machine.

How to weave a watermelon from rubber bands

In order to weave a watermelon, you will need to prepare elastic bands of red, white and green colors. For the watermelon, all you need is a hook.

  • First, wrap one green elastic band around the hook.
  • Take two green elastic bands and thread them together through the resulting knot. Do this with eight pairs.
  • Now that you have a green sausage, thread two white elastic bands through the last pair, and two red ones through the white ones.
  • Insert the hook into the third loop of green elastic bands from the end, without removing the red ones from the hook. Take two more green ones and pass them through the third row.
  • The white pair passes between the green ones and remains on the hook (don't touch the red ones yet). We've almost answered the question of how to weave fruit from rubber bands, and the watermelon is heading towards completion.
  • Another pair of reds is passed between the whites and left on the hook.
  • Between the two red ones, insert another pair of the same color.
  • Pass the hook through the fourth loop from the end of the green rubber bands and perform all the steps in the same way.
  • Now start weaving from the other side, that is, from the first green loop.
  • You will end up with two halves of a watermelon slice.

As you can see, weaving berries from rubber bands (and a watermelon is a large berry) is an interesting thing, but the figure is not finished yet: the two halves need to be connected.

We study weaving from rubber bands of various delicious fruits and vegetables

Delicious strawberry:

Strawberry is a well-known and very popular berry, so let's start with it. This product is easy to weave on a slingshot, or any other machine with two posts. Prepare the following:

  • the slingshot itself (or machine);
  • Crochet hook;
  • 13 red rubber bands;
  • 5 green rubber bands.

If your loom has recesses, turn it so that they are visible to you - then it will be much more convenient to hook the elastic bands. You need to knit the berry, starting with red elastic bands, and only then making green sepals.

Take one red rubber band and wrap it three times around the right rod. The remaining red elastic bands are worn in pairs. Simply put the first pair on two pins without twisting them, and then throw the initial elastic band on the right side into the center of the weave.

Throw on the next pair. Remove the one that was in front of it from the right column and throw it towards the center. Next, transfer the top two elastic bands from left to right.

Place a couple more rubber bands on both posts of the slingshot. Remove the two bottom rubber bands from the left rod and send them to the middle. Repeat this again, adding a couple of elastic bands on top. Now move the top two elastic bands from the right to the left column.

Add two more red rubber bands and drop the two middle pairs from the right column. Move the top pair from right to left.

Finally, the last pair of red rubber bands. Place it on both pins, and send a pair of lower rubber bands on the right side to the middle.

It's the turn of the green rubber bands. Place two pieces on the posts. Then, on the right side, discard one pair of reds, and on the left side, discard the top two pairs. Transfer the green rubber bands from the left to the right rod.

Throw in a couple more greens, and then dump all the other reds into the middle. Put on another green rubber band, this time a single one, and throw off all the remaining ones on it. Move one side from one column to another, and place the last one in the center.

Remove the remaining loop and tighten it to create a ponytail. The berry is ready!

Making a beautiful tomato with your own hands

Before you start weaving, make sure you have everything you need to make this craft. Such simple figures can be woven without a machine, using a fork or your own fingers. However, on the machine, of course, it will be much more convenient. So, you will need:

  • machine with two posts (optional);
  • hook;
  • 8 red rubber bands;
  • 3 green rubber bands.

To begin, place one of the red elastic bands on the right post, wrapping it around twice. Stretch three more rubber bands in the same way. Place the remaining red rubber bands on both columns of the slingshot.

Hook all eight rings and remove them to the middle. Then pull one green rubber band over both posts, and remove all the red ones.

Transfer one of the green loops to the other column, threading it through the second loop.

Insert the last two green elastic bands into the end of the ponytail and pull off the long end.

We knit a tropical banana quickly and easily

Knitting a banana from rubber bands is very simple - you just need to weave a small oblong cylinder and finish it with a loop. And if you do it with a hook and a slingshot, everything turns out to be even easier. Prepare the necessary tools and materials:

  • hook;
  • slingshot or machine;
  • 15 yellow rubber bands;
  • 4 green rubber bands.

Wrap the first green rubber band three times around the right edge of the slingshot. You should get three rings. On top, on both posts, put another pair of yellow elastic bands. Throw the green one into the center.

Place four yellow rubber bands on both sides at once. Remove the previous two and place them in the middle. Put four pieces on again and lower the bottom ones, and then three more and lower them again.

Add two green rubber bands. Drop the yellow ones on them and put on another green one. Pull down all the green rubber bands already on it. Remove one of the loops and transfer it to another post.

Pass one loop through the other and pull it well. Remove the finished product from the slingshot.

Don't limit yourself to simple figures; try making three-dimensional 3D fruits. In the “Video” section you will find detailed video tutorials that clearly show how to make them.

How to connect

  • You still have the top pair of red rubber bands on your hook.
  • Find a second pair that is symmetrical to it from the top of the other half and put it on the hook.
  • Thread the last two red elastic bands between them.
  • Tighten the knot.

Making fruits from rubber bands without a machine

To make strawberries from rubber bands, you need to prepare a hook, green and red rubber bands in different shades. The initial elastic should be wound three times around the hook. Pull the remaining two red shades through the wound ones. Place the loop on the hook. In the same way, pull a pair of red elastic bands through the loops. This must be done five times. Then you need to put the loops that are at the bottom on the hook. Next, take a couple more elastic bands and thread them through the ones on the hook and continue knitting. Do this four times, and then put the elastic bands at the bottom onto the hook. The result is a berry. Next, you can start weaving strawberry leaves. To do this, you need to twist the green rubber band four times, take a pair of green rubber bands and pull them through the twisted one. It is important to make three such blanks on the hook. Take one rubber band and stretch it through all the green leaves and through the red berry. Now you can remove the elastic band and tuck in those elastic bands that are sticking out. Without a machine, you can make a fruit clearing. The main distinguishing feature of working without a machine and with a machine is the limitation in size. You can simply weave small figures on a hook. But for certain crafts it’s even better, for example, berries look best when they’re small.

How to weave a tomato from rubber bands

Weaving from elastic bands on a slingshot is no more difficult than weaving on a hook. The tomatoes will turn out small and neat.

You will need eight red rubber bands and three green ones.

  • Fold four pieces of elastic in half in turn and put them on one side of the slingshot.
  • Pull the four remaining red ones over the entire slingshot above the previous ones.
  • Carefully remove the folded elastic bands with a crochet hook, so that you get a small “knot” in the middle.
  • Take the green rubber band and put it on the slingshot.
  • Next, drag the remaining red elastic bands onto the green one, remove them from the slingshot and tighten the knot with a hook.
  • Under the green elastic knot, pull two more of the same color.
  • Use scissors to trim the rounded edges.

As a result, you will get a tomato keychain.

Ripe banana

To weave a banana from rubber bands on a slingshot, a similar method is used.

For work you will need: fifteen yellow rubber bands and four green ones, a hook and a slingshot.

First you need to put one green elastic band on one column of the slingshot and wrap it twice so that in the end there are three rings, then put on two yellow elastic bands, and hook the green ones and lower them onto the yellow elastic bands.

The next step is to pull the four yellow elastic bands and bring them down to the center again.

Next, you need to put two green elastic bands on both columns and throw yellow ones on them.

Now put on the green elastic band and pull the previous two to its center. Pull the remaining ends one into the other and tighten the knot.

Ready.

How to weave a pear from rubber bands

If you are interested in knowing how to weave fruits from rubber bands, then a pear woven on a machine will appeal to you.

To weave a pear you will need one brown and eleven green elastic bands.

  • Twist three layers of green elastic around one of the legs of the slingshot.
  • Above, put two more elastic bands of the same color on both sides.
  • Crochet the twisted elastic band over the middle of the two green ones.
  • Put two more rubber bands on the slingshot and throw the entire structure over them.
  • The free ends now need to be left on one side of the slingshot.
  • Place an elastic band twisted three times onto the other end of the slingshot.
  • Pull a pair of elastic bands onto the slingshot and throw only one end on it on the left side and the elastic bands running second row from the top on the right.
  • Place the remaining elastic bands on the left side onto the right.
  • Place the end of the future pear again on the freed part of the slingshot.
  • On top comes a new pair of elastic bands. Everything on the left is thrown onto it, then the next pair is put on.
  • Remove the second row of rubber bands from the top on the right, and then place another pair on the slingshot.
  • Remove all the rubber bands on both sides.
  • Take two more elastic bands, throw off the remaining pear.
  • The last row will be the only brown elastic band - this will be the tail of the pear. You need to place all the elastic bands from the slingshot on it and tighten the brown knot.

The pear is ready.

Fruits without a machine and a slingshot

Incredibly, it is possible to weave fruits from rubber bands even without using attributes such as a machine or a slingshot. All you need is a hook and a set of elastic bands of the required color. You can learn more about this method using the example of weaving strawberries on a hook.

To make strawberries you need to prepare: a hook, red elastic bands, green elastic bands, but in smaller quantities.

First you need to take one red elastic band and wrap it around the hook four times. Then we take two more elastic bands and pull the resulting loops onto them. The result will be two tails, which we put on the hook. We do this two more times, each time taking two elastic bands, removing the loops on them from the hook and returning the resulting tails to the hook.

Now the same thing, but with green color. We take the green elastic bands, tighten the loops on them and return the tails to the hook. Next, take the outermost loop from the end of the chain and put it on the hook. All over again. Three times with red rubber bands and once with a green iris. We put on the bottom loop again and repeat all the steps done earlier. We finish the work with the final green layer by hooking one elastic band through the loops. Having passed the resulting tails through each other, we tighten the knot.

Weaving an apple

Slingshot weaving is the simplest way to make fruit. The result is small and very cute apples.

To create these fruits you will need:

  • green or red elastic bands for the fruit itself, three green ones for the tail;
  • a slingshot on which the weaving will take place;
  • hook.

The weaving process is as follows. You need to take one red rubber band and wrap it around one column of the slingshot twice. The same needs to be done with the next three elastic bands.

Next, you need to put four elastic bands (also red) on both posts.

The next step is to remove all the elastic bands wrapped around one column into the center of the four elastic bands on two columns.

Next, you need to put one green elastic band on two columns and pull all the remaining red ones onto it.

Having moved both parts of the elastic to one side, you need to thread one end into the other and tighten it slightly.
