Do you like bright and original handmade bracelets? These are baubles, they are woven by hand from leather, ribbons, floss or beads, or there may be macrame bracelets, which are perfect for beginners to master this type of needlework. In our article we will tell you how to weave a bauble from beads and look in detail at the patterns and methods of weaving both with and without a machine.

Beaded baubles with patterns for beginners

  • Before weaving begins, let's look at what techniques exist for weaving beaded baubles.
  • For beginners, we recommend trying your hand at the cross-weaving technique. Prepare:
  • high-quality beads (Czech or Japanese);

To make beaded baubles using the weaving patterns below, you need to take two needles and thread them onto both edges of the thread:

  1. String four beads onto the right one and place them in the center of the thread.
  2. Pass the left needle crosswise through the fourth bead.

  3. The first link of your chain is ready, and the needles have been swapped.

  4. Place one bead on the left needle and two on the right needle.

  5. Pass the left needle crosswise through the seventh bead, and you have the second link.

  6. Continue weaving until you get the length you want.

Weaving technique

This is the simplest pattern for weaving baubles, but with the help of this weaving you can create baubles from beads with a name, geometric pattern, ornament or any inscription.

  • Select the desired width of the bracelet and string the required number of beads.
  • Pull the line through the penultimate bead.
  • In this case, the last bead collected will become the first in the 2nd row.
  • Continue with the pattern below.

Flower weaving technique

This is also a very simple weaving pattern:

  1. Thread 8 beads onto the thread.
  2. Close them into a circle through the first bead.
  3. Pass the needle through the beads again to come out of the eighth again.
  4. Pick up the ninth bead in a different color and, dividing the ring in half, pass the needle through the fourth bead (on the opposite side of the eighth) and go out.
  5. Place 6 beads on the needle, closing them in a ring through the fifth and fourth beads.
  6. Go around the thread and come out of the fifth bead.
  7. Place the sixteenth bead in a different color on the needle and pass through the twelfth bead (through the one opposite to it).

Having studied the basic weaving techniques, we begin to create beautiful beaded baubles.

Simple beaded baubles

To weave the simplest bauble you will need:

Let's get started:

  1. Take 4 pcs. threads (their length depends on the desired length of the bracelet).
  2. Thread them through the bead and secure them to one part of the clasp.
  3. String the beads not very tightly (choose the color according to your desire and imagination).
  4. Thread the threads through a large bead and fasten it to the second part of the clasp.
  5. The bracelet is ready.
  • To weave a braided bauble you need:
  • fishing line;
  • beads of any three colors, but of the same size;
  • large beads – 2 pcs.;
  • clasp.

We weave:

  1. Thread three pieces of fishing line through the bead.
  2. Attach the ends to one part of the lock.
  3. Place beads of the same color on each piece of fishing line.
  4. We braid fishing lines with beads into a classic braid.
  5. When you have the required length, thread all three lines through the bead and attach to the second part of the clasp.
  6. It turned out to be a beautiful bracelet.

How to make a flower bauble from beads

For the bracelet you will need:

  • small beads;
  • transparent beads;
  • fishing line (thin);
  • lock (consists of two parts).
  1. Take 2 pieces of fishing line.
  2. Attach the fishing line to one part of the lock.
  3. String beads onto each line so that the length of the chain of beads is approximately 3 cm.
  4. Now thread two fishing lines into a transparent bead and come out of it (this is the first petal).
  5. Place 2 beads on each line separately.
  6. Now again pass both fishing lines through the bead, only of a different color (this is the core of the flower).
  7. Turn the lines in the opposite direction and thread each of them through two beads.
  8. Tighten and thread both lines into another bead.
  9. The first link with the flower is finished.
  10. Similarly, weave the required number of links.
  11. Finish the bauble in the same way you started.

Patterns of cells for cat baubles made of beads

We will weave an animal from beads according to the following pattern, where one cell is equal to one bead.

For such a cat you will need:

  • beads: white translucent, soft pink and one blue for the eye;
  • fishing line and a narrow ribbon.
  1. Weave a cat according to the pattern.
  2. When it is ready, you need to braid a small bracelet on both sides.
  3. Thread the line through the bead at the edge of the muzzle.
  4. String three beads onto both ends of the fishing line.
  5. Pass both ends of the fishing line at once into one bead.
  6. Again, string three beads onto each line.
  7. And again, close the circle with one.
  8. This must be done 5 times.
  9. Using a needle, weave a ribbon into the resulting bracelet: pass one end of the ribbon along the top through the holes of the bracelet, and thread the other end along the bottom. At the end, make a few not very tight knots and leave about 10 cm of free tape, and melt the edge (to prevent unraveling).
  10. The same must be done on the other side.
  1. The gentle cat bauble is ready.

We weave an accessory with our own hands

A simple option for beginners

The easiest way is to take a sheet of paper in a box and draw a diagram of the desired accessory: one box will mean one bead. The drawing is marked with colored felt-tip pens and pencils for convenience. The bracelet can also be complemented with a pattern.

Stages of weaving using the “monastic cross” technique:

  1. Take a piece of thread and fold it in half, thread 4 beads. After that, take 2 more beads into the 2nd thread, tightening it, put it on the left end and add another bead to the right. In this case, the main color of the beads is used.
  2. We pass the right end of the thread through the 2nd bead and tighten it, weaving the desired length of the bracelet. We form the name in the same way in accordance with the scheme, but using a different color.
  3. To make the decoration wider, three beads should be strung on a thread, after which the second end should be passed through the third bead. Both strands come out of the first row of side beads.
  4. We thread 2 beads onto the right end of the thread, and one bead onto the left, passing the right end through it so that the sides switch places. Next, the thread needs to be passed through the beads of the first row located on the side and tightened again.

We weave the accessory according to the pattern in the required sequence, adding beads of the required colors. The final step is to attach a clasp or sew the ends together.

The photo shows examples of how to weave beaded bracelets with names.

More complex scheme

A beaded bracelet with a name can be created using the hand weaving technique using weaving patterns. Beading equipment can be purchased at a hobby store or made independently. The machine is used to regulate thread tension and create a smooth beaded fabric.

Before you start shaping the accessory, create a pattern in the same way as with hand beading. Next, the threads or fishing line should be wound on the machine, their number should be one more than the rows in the pattern. The thread should be inserted into the needle and tied tightly to the first one on the machine, having collected the required number of beads on it.

Next, we move the needle under the threads, doing this so that the beads are between the threads stretched over the device. The needle should be passed over the threads and tightened, this will create the second row.

We continue the weaving process in accordance with the diagram.

Openwork decoration made of beads and beads for professionals

For this decoration, beads of two colors and beads are used.

Master class stages:

  1. Take a piece of fishing line two meters long, string three beads of the same color and three beads so that they alternate with each other.
  2. Move the beads about 20 cm from the left edge of the fishing line. We form a ring and tie a knot.
  3. On the long end we collect three beads of the second color, one of the first and three more of the second color. In this process, the fishing line will come out of the bead as part of the loop. Next, we thread it into another bead located behind the adjacent one. As a result, it turns out that a row of beads of the second color will be thrown through the bead, and the top will be color No. 1. Repeat the process with the other two beads.
  4. We thread a bead onto the fishing line and pull the fishing line through the top of the first row of beads. We repeat the process with the other two vertices.
  5. We enter once again the first bead-vertex. We get a loop with three new beads. We repeat the process with the beads, “enveloping” them with a row of beads.
  6. We weave the bracelet until we get the desired length.

Finally, attach the clasp.

Volumetric personalized bracelet

You can weave each letter separately, and then connect them to each other. This applique is used not only as a bracelet, but also to decorate clothes, a backpack or bag, and create a decoration for a children's room using beadwork.

The basic patterns for beading bracelets with names from letters of the Russian alphabet are presented in the figure.

For weaving three-dimensional letters, it is better to use thin monofilament.

Techniques for weaving beaded baubles for beginners

A beaded bracelet is a bright and fashionable accessory.
The fashion for baubles in the Western world and in our country began with the hippie movement in the twentieth century, for whom bracelets were symbols of love, fidelity and friendship. Using the beading technique, baubles look very stylish. In addition, they are woven from threads and other less popular materials - leather scraps, ribbons, large beads and glass beads. Such a bracelet can become an original accessory that emphasizes the individual style of its owner. It can be wide or narrow, any color and size. Let's look in more detail at weaving beaded baubles in different ways.

What you need to weave beaded baubles

Anyone can master beadwork, but in any case you will need free time and desire. Patterns for beaded baubles can be chosen of any complexity and to suit every taste. So, for work you will need:

  • Beads. You can choose the color and size of the beads at your discretion, but you should always pay attention to the quality - ideally, all beads should be the same shape and size.

Beads must be of high quality

  • Beads are strung on fishing line, strong threads made of nylon or lavsan. If you are working with fishing line, you can do without needles. For more complex weaving, threads and special bead needles with a thin eye are usually used. If the bauble is simple, the needle can be replaced by smearing the tip of the thread with nail polish to make it hard.
  • Clasps for bracelets are not always used. Sometimes the bracelet is closed with a ring or the clasp is woven with your own hands from beads and seed beads. Of the special fasteners, carabiner locks are best suited.

The first principle: one end, that is, only one thread or fishing line is used in weaving. Beads or beads are placed on it, and the second thread does not take part in such weaving.

The second principle: two ends - the principle in which two threads are used on which beads are strung. This technique is used when weaving an openwork bracelet.

Popular methods of weaving baubles:

  • canvas technique (baubles with names);
  • flower technique;
  • cross technique.

“Canvas” technique according to diagrams and description of work

This technique is used to make baubles with geometric patterns, names, and titles.

The cloth bauble is made according to a very simple pattern, so it is quite suitable for beginners. This bauble can be with an ornament, with a name and other inscriptions.

After choosing the width of the pattern, you need to stretch the fishing line through the penultimate beads, and it is the outermost beads that are cast on that will become the first in the next row. Next you should follow the given scheme, which is shown in the photo.

This scheme is very simple; after making one row you can understand what to do next.

Even a beginner can weave a bauble, and in order to understand the principle, it is enough to carefully study the weaving of just one row. Let's take a closer look at how to weave a beaded bauble with fabric:

  1. We put on the thread the required number of beads according to the width of the future bracelet (we are guided by the diagram).
  2. Add the first bead of the second row. We pass the needle into the last bead of the first row, then again into the first bead of the second (the thread goes in a circle).
  3. We string the second bead of the second row, pass the needle through the penultimate bead of the first row and again into the added bead.
  4. We continue to weave beads in the same way, following the pattern of the beaded bauble and changing colors according to the pattern.
  5. To secure the thread, you can go back a few rows with the needle and then cut it.

How to weave beaded baubles

An interesting question: how to weave baubles from beads? After all, the hippie style is back in fashion. Nowadays, baubles are used as one of the components of style or simply as decoration. A bauble is a hand-woven bracelet made from floss, beads, leather, ribbons, and other accessories. The name is presumably taken from the English dictionary - thing, which means “thing” or “little thing”.

What you need to weave baubles

Initially, it had its own symbolic meaning, ancient history and meaning. Baubles originally appeared among Indian tribes and were a symbol of friendship and trust.

The loving hippie subculture, which fully supports ethnic roots and culture, adopted this symbol. Take advantage of our tips for weaving beaded baubles for beginners.

Beaded baubles have many patterns, both strict and openwork. Despite the variety of patterns, colors and symbols, all weaving is based on two principles. Principles of weaving beaded baubles:

  1. One end - this weaving principle involves the use of only one thread or fishing line. Beads or beads are strung on it, and the second thread is not involved in such weaving.
  2. Two ends - this principle of weaving involves the use of two threads on which beads are strung, making an openwork beaded bracelet.

Master class on weaving beaded baubles

Since I don't have a ready-made beading machine, I will use a cardboard lid, a shoe box.

We take the lid and on each side, measuring a distance of half a centimeter with a ruler, make markings for the entire width.

Having made the markings, we make cuts with scissors. There should be one more bead than the number of beads in the planned product.

Next, we connect the cuts with thread along the entire length of the workpiece.

Having completed the started process, we tie the thread on the wrong side of the lid.

The next step is to tie the thread to the first stretched thread.

Let's start weaving a beaded bauble

Let's carefully consider the schematic image of the selected ornament of the future bracelet.

We weave the first row.

We collect 13 multi-colored beads, focusing on the diagram, and draw a needle with beads strung on a thread under the threads stretched lengthwise.

We try to place each bead in a cell between the threads.

We pass the needle through the holes of all the beads in the opposite direction. The first row is not very convenient to weave, but subsequent rows will be easy to fit in the desired position.

Next, we collect the second row of beads, focusing on the diagram of the selected schematic drawing.

We place the collected beads in an even row under the stretched threads and place them in the cells. Take a needle and thread it through the holes of the second bead row, carefully tightening it.

The process is repeated. The main thing is to carefully follow the pattern and perform the correct set of beads - and everything will work out.

The result is an extraordinary colorful bauble.

We divide the tails of the threads on each side into three equal parts and braid them - these will be the ties of the bracelet. You can use special clasps, but then the bracelet needs to be woven a little longer. It is up to the craftswoman to decide what kind of fastener to make. I like the ties.

It turns out to be a beautiful multi-colored decoration on the wrist.

History of baubles

A bauble is a bracelet made of leather, laces, beads, ribbons or threads. The name of the word “bauble” or “fenka” comes from the English word “thing” (thing, object). In some nationalities, the bauble is considered a symbol of friendship and love.

The author of the work below is Yulia Orlova.

Initially, baubles were considered bracelets and belts made by Indians from North America. Such accessories were, of course, not created for beauty and art. Each bauble with an individual design and ornament carried a whole story.

Even then the pattern of weaving baubles was known. Each bauble had its own meaning. Everyone was involved in weaving. Bracelets united warriors and signified the brotherhood of peoples, and belts were passed on to each other as a sign of alliance.

Gifted belts and bracelets were never removed; this was considered bad manners. We wore baubles until the accessories were torn.

Today, baubles are made from numerous materials: beads, laces and ribbons, leather, wire, threads. You can wear them every day, even to formal events.

The author of the work below is Alexandra Vlasova.

Nowadays there are many known patterns for weaving various baubles. Using a certain ornament and color of jewelry, masters still put their own meaning into it.

By the way, read the article “How to combine colors correctly.” In it you will find useful information on color combinations. From ancient times to this day, it has been customary not to remove baubles until they break. Therefore, there are not only ways to weave the decorations themselves, but also ways to secure them.

As a rule, a beaded bauble is attached to the wrist and tied with three knots, on the last of which the owner of the jewelry makes a wish.

As already mentioned, baubles are made from all kinds of materials. Beaded baubles will be an original gift for a friend or sister for any special occasion.
